Hacked & now released emails tell us what Colin Powell’s opinion is.

Donald Trump a “national disgrace and an international pariah”.

“He takes us for idiots,” Powell wrote, according to CBS.

“Let’s not make this a reality show,” Powell said. “You know you’re in trouble when Jerry Springer even thinks it’s over the top.”

Surely conservatives still have some respect for the leaders they have told us we should listen to all these years.   So many top-notch conservative thinkers, experienced political leaders and elected officials have been telling us that Trump is a dangerous mistake.

It is surprising to see how conservatives throw out the opinions of their most respected leaders and put so much blind faith in Trump.     Ok, I get that you don’t listen to Liberal/Progressive voices against Trump… you don’t trust them…. But why have you stopped trusting the most respected voices in your own camp?

I do not have blind trust in Donald Trump.  What I can see with one eye closed is you have to be utterly clueless if you think Hillary Clinton is a preferable choice for POTUS.  Unless you are a strong supporter of this socialist path to destruction that we are on and would continue with Hillary piloting the kamikaze mission, then you too would support Trump.

You seem to be so wrapped up with Hillary that it suggests you may be a heavy contributor to the "Clinton Foundation". I think you would continue to support her even if you had to visit her behind "bars",(jail house bars that is).

Thanks for keeping up with it for us, copper.  You are coming over soon.  We do appreciate.

As said before, some of my Trump support is because of who opposes him, (and as I said before), both Republican and Democrat and Unknown.

You do remember that Colin was a turncoat a few years back, right?

Good that Powell acknowledges that dimokraps are idiots, including himself.  Thanks, copper-krap*

No, I missed that moment when one of the most respected men in America became a turn-coat.  When was that exactly?

Do you guys even realize how much you have changed?    We're talking Colin Powell here!

Here you are trying to pass off Colin Powell as a trusted and respected member of the Republican establishment.  Don't you know he is despised by the conservative base of the party.  He lost our trust and respect when he voted for Barack Obama in two elections.  His biggest concern now is to ensure that he is never excluded from any of the inside the beltway high society political parties where they look down their noses at all of us here in flyover country.  Read some of his hacked emails...you won't change your mind about him, but you will be a little more informed.

You left out the part that he resented Hillary's claims that he told her to set up a private server.  I don't think he is a fan of Hillary either.

My feeling is that Colin Powell should have been the first black president, but he was so rudely treated by "W" who was on the expressway with the "let's build a Democracy in Iraq and see what happens" neocons (who conned W), he decided to leave public office.  In truth, he had a much bigger impact on the State Department than Hilary ever did, that is, actually changing the State Department attitude and culture. Benghazi would have never happened on his watch.  You may recall that Colin was the one who told "W", "you break it, you bought it" and we have certainly paid for it ever since.

I worked in the Pentagon when he was Chairman, JCS, and thanks to what I was doing then, worked quite a bit with the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  The people that I knew have an infinite amount of respect for him and liked him very much.  He's very down to earth, and not really part of the Washington establishment.  His style is 180 out from Trump, so his comments don't surprise me.

Perhaps it is that a good number of supporters plan to vote against Clinton (and her socialist ideas), and have the same hopes for change that some of us did when Obama was elected (he never made good on his campaign promises, and I am sorry I voted for him)

OK, so Donald Trump's character has impressed you more favorably than Colin Powell's work history.   Riiiiiiiight.......

You have to accept a lot of contradictions, ignore a lot of history, and have a lot of blind faith to vote Trump.  That is not a form of conservatism I am familiar with.

There you go again with the blind faith in Trump.  Can't you comprehend that our support for Trump is because of our knowledge of Hillary, Obama and the Democrat party.  I know you folks don't have a sense of humor, but I'm beginning to think you just don't have sense.  Geez!!

There you go again doing some heavy editing.......Since you put so much store  old CP, let'e look at what else he said about HRC..

"...warned the HRC team not to scape goat me on the email thing...told them 3 times....they were dumb to do this"

CP regularly corresponded with reporters and friends that "his email setup and hers were very different". He used his personal acct with AOL on their server and then used a gov't computer for classified info" (HRC lied about this)

"Everything HRC touches she kind of screws up with hubris"

"I told her about a gig I lost at a University cause she overcharged them after which they came under heat and could not pay fees for a while"

When asked if he would endorse her he said " she has not been covering herself with glory, for good reason she comes across as sleazy"

He "would rather not vote for her, although she is a friend that I respect"

CL............that is a dammmming picture of your candidate, from an unimpeachable source in your mind...tell me your thoughts....

You can't mean it..... that CP doesn't love HRC and wouldn't vote for her???   Funny how Copperline was so quick to jump on here and tell us the bad things Colin Powell said about Trump..... and neglected to report what he had to say about HRC.  I'm shocked.

Sounds to me like he will be voting for Hillary.  Read the entire thing.  He says he loves and respects Hillary Clinton but thinks she is fast and loose with the truth.  He says the Bengazi crap is a ''witch hunt''.  He says Trump is a ''disgrace to America''.  Sounds to me as if the general is like a lot of us...voting reluctantly for Clinton in hopes of derailing a man who we feel ''is a disgrace to America''.  Who do you think the general is voting for?

Nobody cares what he thinks or said.  He basically called Hilda a bumbling idiot as Secy of State.  Who cares?

Make up your own mind.

No Archy....just like you I don't have a clue.....my bet though is that he will take a walk. You see, he voted for the current Pres because of the color of his skin.....HRC doesn't have the same appeal as BHO did.....HRC is having the same problem with many other of BHO's supporters. Better start a move toward Johnson while there's time....

He said that he thought the Benghazi hearings were a witch hunt, but he also told Condoleeza Rice that he blamed the Ambassador for assuming that the Lybians  loved him and that he was safe there; and he also blamed HRC for what happened.  Everyone overlooks the fact that the Ambassador felt he was safe and that the Secretary of State went along with his assessment.  He was wrong, she was wrong and it went down the way it went down.  And all those requests for additional security, were likely between his security officer and the State Department security team.  The thing I blame Hilary for is allowing the State Department to go on dickering as to what the help should wear when they went to help.  She could have stopped that immediately, if she had made a decision.

And BTW, that is the biggest rubbing point between State and Defense - that Defense is leaning forward in the foxhole to get something done quickly and efficiently, and State like to debate, and consider and rethink.  That's why you don't see too many people in Defense taking jobs at State, and vice versa.

You are right.  He did say that he thought HRC was a poor Secretary, and I do think he will take a walk vice voting for Hilary.  And he probably did feel obligated to vote for the first black President; but also I'm sure he was still feeling the sting of being isolated out of the inner circle by the NEOCONS. I kinda doubt that he thinks Obama has done a good job.  But he wouldn't say it publicly or in writing, because Obama is still Commander in Chief, and Powell is still at heart a military man.

But he has an opinion and he expressed his opinion to his friend.  Doesn't really surprise me, because their styles are very different, and it doesn't make him right.  It's just his opinion and it makes you and others happy because it reinforces your view.

It's more about thinking that it is important to listen to the wisest voices in the room.  These are the guys who have been running the country, they know what it takes.   More importantly, they have been YOUR guys, the trusted leaders you elected.    Powell has a point of view that should be giving serious conservatives pause,  unless some think he has become a secret Islamic lacky and now conspires to defeat all that is good in the US.

That's not who this guy is.

Based on his comments about THE HILDA B......H and Trump, I would say he sees himself as vastly superior to both candidates.  POwell cast votes for o-BAMMIE which are obviously racist votes, which negate his influence on the national scene.

If you consider a black man who votes for Obama to be a racist for doing that is evidence you are even more a racist and even dumber than I thought.  By making such a stupid blanket statement you are implying all white people who voted against Obama must also be racist!

Every statement you've made leads one to know that you are convinced that ALL white people who did NOT vote for o-BAMMIE ARE RACIST.  If you don't support o-BAMMIEcare, you are racist, if you say MOO-chele because of her enormous butt you are racist, and on and on.......

BTW, Powell voted for o-BAMMIE because he is BLACK......that decision was clearly a race based decision.  Can you say RACIST.
