Now, they have to go fix it. Great brilliant minds running Congress. Add Trump and you have another brilliant mind running the country.

Congress has 'buyer's remorse' after overriding Obama veto

WASHINGTON — The White House blasted what it called "rapid onset buyer's remorse" after House and Senate leaders conceded problems with the 9/11 lawsuit bill Congress just enacted into law over President Obama's veto.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., suggested that the House might take up a bill to fix problems with the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, or JASTA, after it comes back from its election recess. He acknowledged Obama's concerns that the bill could subject U.S. service members to lawsuits in foreign courts.

"So I'd like to think that there's a way we could fix so that our service members do not have legal problems overseas, while still protecting the rights of the 9/11 victims, which is what JASTA did do," Ryan told reporters Thursday.

"Nobody really had focused on the potential downside in terms of our international relationships," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said. "I think it was just a ball dropped."

Veto override passed Senate by 97:1.  That's all dimokraps, except for senile Harry R. And by over 90% of the House.  Your lying is beginning to bother me.....

Just another very important reason to vote TRUMP! He, nor any Republican, would leave a soldier to answer to a foreign court over their sworn duties to follow orders. Hillary would deliver them in shackles to whatever tin horn dictator or  judge requested them.

Did you even read the post.  GF is speaking the truth.  It is not the fact the override was nearly unanimous he is referring to...it is the fact that as retaliation it is now probable that the US will be forced to defend lawsuits by foreign nationals anytime a US citizen carrying out the policies of the US government screws up.  Watch those drone strikes...oops that was a hospital!  Sure, we can simply ignore the suits just as the Saudis will, but it will not go a long way toward improving peacful relations or international cooperation.  I know you are too stupid to understand or care, but thinking Americans do, including GOP leaders in Congress who have now satisfied the crazies and are moving to repair the damage.

The significance of this vote is lost on a lot of people.   It's not only that foreign governments will allow suits & legal charges against individual soldiers... but that those governments can now justify seizing US corporate assets in their country as punishment for US drone strikes that killed innocent people, bombs that hit non-military sites, or other military actions that displaced people in their countries.   It's not likely that a 21 year old drone pilot in Utah will be extradicted to Pakistan for trial, it's that any US owned assets in that country are now in subject to seizure.

It also means that countries like Saudi Arabia could remove their investments from the US  out of fear that these could be seized as damages under US law.

Remember, US citizens already HAD the right to sue foreign govenments who had been officially identified as state sponsors of terrorism.   This just opens the door to legal actions against  any country that is alledged to be associated with terrorist acts by one of it's citizens.... whether their government 'sponsored' the act or not.

As soon as this passed and veto was over-ridden, Congressmen started wondering if they had opened Pandora's Box.

Too late, too bad, big mistake.      This will do nothing to punish the guilty or bring back the dead.

and a great response to a very misinformed poster.  Unfortunately it is beyond the mental capacity of Trump and many of his supporters to grasp its truth or significance.

If this law is so dangerous as you three liberal claim, please tell me why the POTUS (o-BAMMIE) did not LEAD Congress to see the perils.  That's his job.....to lead the nation.  He could only get one vote in the Senate from his own dimokrap party...what gives?  Tell us oh enlightened ones, why you hallowed leader failed the country....

Quit dancing.  Leadership starts after the veto.  O-BAMMIE FAILED TO LEAD HIS OWN PARTY.  Got it?

C'mon guys.  They don't want to admit that the democrats broke from their party leader, Obama, and helped override the veto.

All they want to do is spread fear.  Reminds me of the insurance guy who just wants to spread fear so you will buy what he is selling.

On another note, Hilda is such a pompous person:  so what if some Republicans defect to her side.  There are a lot of democrats that have defected to Trump because of Benghazi, her server, her health, her need for hand holding as Sec of State, and her inability to do anything as a US Senator.  At least, that is what a crowd of ex-Bernies told me tonight.  She has some major gaps with the millenials.
