My wife and I had lunch today with and old friend (retired architect) and his wife.  Both were born in SC and now live in north FL.  They have been married for 46 years and both have ALWAYS voted for the GOP candidate for president...this year they are each bypassing the presidential line on the ballot.  They are the 5th and 6th GOP faithful that have told me that this year.  Several others are admitting to having a quandry in deciding and 2 others are with her (Clinton).  We have more Republican friends and acquantances than Democrats and, unlike past presidential years, neither my wife nor I have had a single one willing to talk politics this year and not one who has any unconditional positive comments on Trump.  Most are voting for him, but none are happy about it!

I suspect many, many thoughtful Republicans along with many serious Christian-values driven voters are in an intense quandry.    

However, the level of acrimony is so high that many would probably rather keep their balloting a secret this year than have to defend a vote that runs counter to everything they have believed in... or admit they are going to vote against the Republican nominee.

As Trump takes his portion of the Party into this new direction of White Nationalism, our Republican friends will probably find themselves looking for moderate & mature candidates who don't play up hate & fear as a core of their message.   As they do so, I suspect there are moderate/centerist Democrats who will join them.

Well, I guess we all have some of those " one of my best friends was a .............."story don,t we......my story goes like this, four of us Georgia boys went to HS together, and 3 of us went R after the Carter years, while one stayed a solid D....up thru the Obama years .......til about 18 months ago. He is so distraught we can't have any political conversation with him....period. Totally turned off and too embarrassed I guess to admit the error of his ways and that he believed all the malarkey from this Pres.

He'll come around sooner or later....but I don' think think Hil will get his vote, nor any dem any time soon .......
