Once again the gun control advocates are going nuts wanting to ban guns.  They are not waiting to consider that this was a seriously deranged young man, that had been texting threatening messages to his MIL.  They are not stopping to consider that an armed neighbor was able to wound and chase down the shooter to keep him from killing anyone else.

My heart goes out to the members of the community of that town.  But I have yet to hear one of them suggest that guns should be banned.  And I ask the gun control advocates if they would suggest banning trucks, if he rammed the church doors with a truck and killed people

This was a case where a number of people knew this man was deranged, perhaps a danger to himself and others, but no one acted.  They knew he left the military under unusual circumstances, people considered him off and weird, but no one reported anything.  Why did the MIL not report the threats to the sheriff?

If half of what I have read over the weekend / today is true this guy *WAS* a grade A nutburger.

Thankfully he has been removed from the genepool.

We hear a lot about background checks and how wonderful they are.  So here we have someone who was kicked out of the military for abusing a spouse and admitting to intentionally cracking a infants skull.  but someone dropped the ball at the Air Force and did not put him on the list.  Heard today that in 2012 he escaped a mental institution after "death threats to military superiors"    , police were called to a bus station , escaped a mental institution  and caught at a bus station reported as " a danger to himself and others" -  so this nutburger beat his wife, cracked a skull, smuggled guns on base, threatened his officers, locked up for at least a year - and was still able to pass his background checks.

Heard another disturbing statistic.  Somewhere between 20 and 80% of people who should be on the list to not be able to purchase guns are not on the list.  If that is true as little as 1 in 5 people (or more) who deserve to be stripped of gun rights fall through the administrative cracks/human error.

But the solution we always here is that we have to close the gunshow loopholes and more background checks.  Seems that we need to get the reporting side fixed more so then having our children and grandchildren background checked.

Yes, this guy is an epic failure in terms of the processes and what is supposed to be a safety net.

I compare him to the Muslim Army Major that shot a bunch of soldiers at Ft. Hood years ago.  Everyone in the system knew this guy was getting radicalized, yet no one took any action, becasue they were afraid lawsuits, and having to fight for something they believed was true.

Sunday's shooter was even on FB talking about needing psychiatric help.  He was supposed to be on an anti-psychotic medicine.

I have no problem if they close the private sale loophole, get rid of extended magazine and bump stocks.  But the NRA isn't going to agree with any of it, because they know the anti-gun people's final goal is no guns.

As awful as these mass shootings are, they are really few and far between, considering the overall population of the U.S. or even looking at the subgroup of gun owners.  What if the MIL had reported the threatening texts to the sheriff?  As far as I know, it is still illegal to threaten people's lives.  An article I read today, said right after the shootings, she told everyone that she knew who the shooter was.  I think she is complicent in the shootings - and she lost her mother as a result.

People need to stop standing back when they see a problem in the making.
