Saw a news clip on TV tonight concerning opiod usage and addiction. It provided information on people who have Medicaid, saying that a patient could get a prescription for opiods with as little as a $1.00 copay and have drugs that would bring as much as $4000.00 on the open market. One can only expect this to lead to illegal drug distribution.

While that may be true it is also the case that it is getting increasingly difficult to find a doctor who will prescribe them. Apparently even patients in hospice are getting turned down. Now if you can find a criminal doctor you can probably get that prescription but otherwise it is not easy. Much easier to find cheap fentalyl or heroin on the street than getting it by prescription.

It's been goin' on for decades. Worst part is when o-BAMMIE's admin promoted Social Security disability (welfare) as a permanent unemployment and ready access and excuse to get opioids......bad back.

I think it got to the point were Drs. were freely writing perscrips for opiods, for every pain that came in their doors. I have fibromyalgia and disintergrating discs in my lower back. I have been offered opiods by Drs., but I'm fairly paranoid about becoming addicted to them, so I decline. There are other ways to deal with pain than taking a pill.
Last night I watched a bit of Intervention, where they are doing a series of trying to help drug addicts in the Atlanta suburbs. It's somewhat shocking to see the extent of the addiction among people of all ages and backgrounds.
