Believe I have read other posts re. otter sightings on the Lake. This past Sunday Connie and I nearly creamed one as it ran (hauled butt) across a narrow section of the peninsula on CR 34 near the APCO boat ramp. No, not a beaver, the bad boy was sleek with a long round tail, at least three feet long and pushed 25 -30 lbs. 'Full timers' on the lake for 25+ years, it was a first for us.

Our dog wore himself out chasing one in the water in Sandy Creek along the Lakeshore Trail. Good comedy watching the otter let him get close and he would then dive while the dog went around in circles only to come up 30 yards away and the chase was back on. The dog ran out of gas long before the otter. First time we'd seen one in the almost 20 years we've been coming to Lake Martin.
