I very rarely post because it seldom does much good. However, an event this morning cant go without mention; About 9:00 this morning I was fishing around the back of a nameless slough across from the golf course. A family in a large, blue Moomba wakeboat decided that they really didn't give a damn about anyone else and moved in. The slough is less than 75 yards wide, but that's where they had to start throwing their wakes while trying to teach little Buffy how to surf. Really? You can't possibly fish when there is a wakeboat plowing water all around you. No, I don't own the lake, but with 44,000 acres of water to chose from they had to pull a stunt like that? I had no otion but to pack up and leave. Those folks may be rich enough to make payments on a boat like that, but they are bakrupt when it comes to common courtesy.

And little Buffy and all the other little obnoxious brats in the boat will grow up to be just like Dad or worse.

It's possible that they did not realize that their water activities would screw up the fishing.  Or they may be the kind of people that the only thing that matters to them is what they want to do and not concerned with anyone else.  The more crowded the lake gets, the harder it is going to be to find a quiet spot to fish.

Yeah, I wouldn't do that.  I give people fishing a wide berth, especially if they are not in a main area of the lake.  Just a side note, a Moomba is the poor man's wakeboat.  If they were really rich they would have bought a Mastercraft or Malibu.

Fisherman or no, wakeboard boats should stay out of sloughs with docks, sea walls and boats tied up.  All my neighbors have had damage from their infernal wakes.  They should have to pay for the damage done.

No argument from me.  There are however a number of sloughs with no homes which are fine...assuming someone isn't there fishing.  In that case go somewhere else. We will only wakesurf in areas with no homes or docks.
