I wear ha in each ear but not rechargeable.  Cost 5k for pair when bought but wife says I can't hear a dang thing,  I have heard several people recommend Costco, but not sure if I trust Walmart spin-off.  Might be fine, they do give hearing test and you try out and can return if not helping.

I have some from Costco but not their house brand.

They work fairly well but I am still hard of hearing.  Some sounds from grandkids just do not translate

Trump is trying to get regulations cut to get the price of medical grade hearing aides into the hundreds, not thousands of dollars.

Unfortunately, I’ve been wearing hearing aids for years.  On my third set.  The question to ask about any OTC aids is:  can you adjust the volume of each frequency range.  Most people lose the range that women’s voices use first....ain’t good.  You don’t want a hearing aid that can’t be adjusted to your hearing loss.  Another thing I was told by an audiologist is you have to activate your brain for certain voices....like your spouse.  I didn’t buy that at first, but it is true...if I could get my wife to call my name, and then talk, we’d be much better off! She won’t do it!  30 day trial may be good, but it usually takes longer.  Without frequency control, dynamite and loving whispers get the same amplification....not good.

Recommend Costco - which is not a spinoff of Walmart (that is Sam's Club).  The problem with hearing aids if you go to an audiologist is that you will pay a lot more and they will only recommend whatever brands they sell.  But almost all hearing aids are now programmed off of your hearing test.  If you spring for ear moulds that will help.  But depending on your level of hearing loss, hearing aids can only do so much.

I agree. If folks call your name then talk we are more likely to understand.

To me hardest to discern between the Ds Cs Ts and Ps

Can you tell us what regulation regarding hearing aids he is proposing to change? My neighbor would like to read about it. Thanks in advance for the information.

If I wanted to I'm sure I could, but I have no inclination to do your research.  I probably would for your neighbor, but I don't know them.  I read/saw it way back.  POTUS stated he couldn't understand why yu could buy OTC aides for 50 and precription aides are thousands when it is the same technology.  I suggest you fire up the DuckDuckGo machine and get the details.

This is what the audiologist told me.  Always speak the name of the person that you are talking to.  Apparently in addition to lip reading, this fascilitates the ability to shift attention from whatever they are doing to you speaking.  Once you have a moderate to severe hearing loss, a person now has to concentrate on hearing.

The word recognition thing goes along with the hearing loss, but it is not exactly the same thing.  There isn't a lot they can do to correct.

it.   I have found that I have to enunciate certain words to be understood when talking to someone with a hearing loss.

I do not have rechargeable but have Costco house brand for 6 years now. Every few years Costco changes house brand which is their name on a national brand such as resound etc. When I first looked the audiologist at my ENT gave an exam and priced hearing aids at about $3000 each. I researched went to Costco had an exam ( their audiologist exam was more detailed than that done in the ENT's office) and the hearing aids were about $1800 for the pair. They are now about $1500 for a pair and in the 6 years I have been wearing them Costco has tripled the size of their hearing aid dept in Birmingham. Costco paysthir Staffa salary where the traditional are on a commission basis. One Costco staffer had previously worked for a national hearing aid co and explained how they were pressured to sell. In the first 2 years Costco will replace a lost unit ( I lost one on a tour in Europe) and no hassle just a new unit. I don't work for or have any connection to Costco but by recommending to friends in the last several years have probably sold 10 sets. Mine will probably get replaced in the next year.
