Further evidence is his comment about defending Taiwan militarily if China invades that was almost immediately walked back by the "White House".....whoever that is.  I suspect Ron Klain and/or Susan Rice.....but it's really anyone's guess who is actually running the Exec Branch.  It sure isn't POTUS or VPOTUS.   POTUS because he is senile and getting worse and VPOTUS because she is a complete idiot who should never be trusted with any level of responsibility.

And clearly DJ is so brain addled that he doesn't recall his predecessor as the worst President in a hundred years terminated our mutual defense treaty with Tawain in the 1970's.  So he goes from calling for regime change in Russia to claiming we are obligated to militarily defend Taiwan from a Chinese invasion and he claims he is not interested in starting WWIII?!?!?!?  Non compos mentis is the only explanation.

It is a good question who is running the country.  There is virtually no reason that Biden had to say anything about Taiwan and what our actions might be.  China has not attacked Taiwan yet and it just creates a problem for us with China, going out on a limb like this right now.  I actually think there is likely a committee of people running the WH, which would account for them constantly walking back the gaffes that Biden puts out there.  

Diplomacy values consistent policies and no fast changes on the fly.  I wonder what our European allies think about this latest gaffe by Biden.  

The man is destroying our country.  And then he had the nerve to say that Republicans don't have the solution to inflation.  Well, they may not, but at least they are smart enough to know that when you find yourself in a hole, then stop digging.

I think you're right primarily because what is backstopping Biden (Harris) is even worse than him.  Say what you will about Trump, Mike Pence would have been a competent backstop should Trump go away.  That is what happens when you pick a running mate based not on competence but on gender and race.  As I often say, things are going to get a lot worse before they get really, really bad.  We are headed to recession and the stock market will probably drop another 20% before it bottoms out.  While I am happy I have over 75% of my assets in cash and real estate I still am feeling the pain of to stock market drop.  For those already retired and still in equities it is going to be a rough few years.

Depends on how big your nest egg is, whether you have another source of income like a pension and how long you live.  For lots of retirees if you think you'll live a long time and don't have enough cash to live on paltry interest income you often have to stay in other investment vehicles that generate a return of more than 0.5% but also come with more risk.  If you can live on cash and what it returns, especially with inflation at 8% I suspect you are smiling right now.   I also suspect those on annuities, which I think you were referring to in your post I also suspect you are smiling.  But over the long run annuities are too expensive IMO.

Having said that, even with a market correction of 20% you would still be above what you were two years ago......but not two months ago though when we were all fat, dumb and happy talking about our investing genius.  Kudos to any retiree that planned well, sacrificed and saved so they can get off the ups and downs of the markets and still maintain their standard of living.....I suspect based on what I've read they are in a small minority.

That is indeed an interesting reason to be 50% in cash.  He must have a hang lot of cash otherwise she is losing 2% to 8% in value each year and I assume that he has done the math and determined that there is enough for her given their expenses, inflation, expected life expectancy, etc.  I have done the math and there is a huge difference in how long your money will last using 1%, 3% and 6% returns. But if he has a ton of retirement money his 50% will make the difference.  At a minimum I will always have three years of living expenses in cash.  If you look at the history of the markets it usually takes three years or less to recover from a correction so if you keep three years in cash you don't have to cash in investments during a down market to pay for living expenses. 

But I do give him credit for his desire for marital harmony.....as we say in our house, if Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

Do you actually watch his show?  I don't watch him or any other personality driven shows like his except for a few times on a plane when I had cnbc on the monitor. They seem more tailored for traders and not long-term investors but I haven't watched enough to know for sure.

Like you, I sometimes hit on the channel and he is on. I find him really obnoxious with his shouting, horns, bells, and bolala(whatever that means).? I am sure he has helped alot of investors over the years.
