Hard to argue with science.....From the prestigous New England Journal of Medicne.

"In work published in the New England Journal of Medicine, researchers—led by the University of Minnesota Medical School and School of Public Health—have found that metformin, a commonly prescribed diabetes medication lowers the odds of emergency department visits, hospitalizations, or death due to COVID-19 by over 40 percent—and over 50 percent if prescribed early in onset of symptoms. The study also found no positive effect from treatment with either ivermectin or low-dose fluvoxamine."

So off label use of common drugs is now good by lefty defination changes, lets have everyone make a run on diabetic drugs to dry up the supply and run the price up and kill people who are diabetic.

I think this is the way GFY framed previous off label use of drugs.

Besides being just one study that came to a similar conclusion as others and opposite conclusion as others, the authors made the following recommendation:  These findings, along with additional prospective studies supporting the use of higher-dose fluvoxamine and ivermectin, provided the evidence to include all three medications (my emphasis added) as well as combination arms. So unlike the Goofy grabbing headline, the authors of this study in the "prestigous NEJM" recommended use of all three medications.  And of course we know that the metadata studies as well as numerous other clinical studies have demonstrated that Ivermectin works if given in high enough doses early in the infection (within 3 days of onset of symptoms).

Having actually read the study they prescribed a 14-day dosing of the two other medications and only 3 days of Ivermectin.  From the study:  The groups received the trial drugs according to the following doses: immediate-release metformin administered with an increase in dose over 6 days to 1500 mg per day for 14 days, ivermectin at a dose of 390 to 470 μg per kilogram per day for 3 days (my emphasis added), and fluvoxamine at a dose of 50 mg twice daily for 14 days.   Note that the dosage of metformin was increased over the course of treatment.  Not so for the Ivermectin or Fluvoxamine.  And the authors admit that using higher doses of Ivermectin, something recommended by the FLCC, could have changed the outcome of the study.  They also limited the study to people who were overweight or obese based on their BMI.

Interestingly, when you compare the reduction in symptoms for all three drugs they are almost identical to the placebo (Figure 2 in the study).  And none of them prevented hypoxia (defined as O2 levels at or below 94%).  And while Metformin performed better than the other two, Ivermectin reduced the incidences of hospitalization and death (0.73).....just not as much as the metformin (0.47) but significantly better than Fluvoxamine (1.11).  Note that the authors admit that the cases of hospitalization and death in all instances (placebo and the three medications) were rare (2% and 0.2%, respectively).  Think about that one......98% never needed to go to the hospital and 99.8% survived.  To me that is the most important aspect of this study, not the lower efficacy of Ivermectin over Metformin.

Finally, I suggest you also read the limitations of the study as they are an important factor to consider.  There are many and they are fairly substantial ones.  You have to read beyond the slanted headlines to get the real facts.....something Goofy never does.

When I saw the post I started to immediately say to Gonefish that his name should not be that close to the word "Facts"

Little did I know it was that bad

Explains his obsession with the "Cliffs Notes" versions.  Its so easy to overlook the "details".

I quit reading the link he provided at the line "Although we know COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective"  Glad to now so many people with 3 and 4 shots just dont get Covid, except Biden, Jill, etc ,etc ,etc

But they should be thankful for that Covid clot shot that caused them to be less sick then they could have been.  What a crock.

I think it's pretty clear that the jab can help reduce symptoms but that's about it.....and the protection lasts a very short time and comes with significant potential adverse side effects.  Don't know if you saw the news but deaths from "unknown causes" has skyrocketed in the last two years.  In fact, in the province of Alberta, Canada it is now the highest cause of death, more than cancer and heart disease combined.  And we have seen the carnage in sports where young, healthy athletes are dropping like flies with heart issues.  So they lied when they called it a vaccine, lied when they changed the definition of vaccine, lied about adverse effects in the trials and have now hidden the data for 75 years and so on.  I will never trust public health agencies ever again.

In the family have 4 people with no shot, no shot, 2 shots and 3 shots.

The two no shots had minimal symptoms ( one has had heartattack, diabetes not the best of health to start with ) 2 shots ran a fever for a few days and sniffles, me with 3 shots was a sore throat with sinus drainage.  YMMV.

Know someone with three shots who was hospitalized but not bad enough for the vent.  Most I know were like my family and was no worse then normal cold/flu, no hospitalization etc ranges from 0-4 shots.

I am not sure you can say how it would have effected your body had you not taken the shots, I can claim I dont have cancer because I drink a gallon of water a day - does not make it a true cause and effect.  I think there is more to do with health in general as to who and why it targets.  It mostly targeted the elderly and people with health problems, but not all of them - because the shots or lack of? or beacuse they drank water or ate a vitamin?  That part is beyond my pay grade.

In my follow up after a cardiac procedure recently I told the Doc for a week after I felt like crap, ran alow grade fever most of the time and spiked a high temp a couple of times he just grinned and said, "well if you can't get COVID in the hospital where can ya get it."  I just laughed and said I guess that is where ya'll grow it.  Did I have covid? Who knows?  Just like I don't know if I had it before when I ran a very high fever for several days, because I have never been tested, much less injected.  No, I haven't and don't plan to have the antibody test to see IF I had it.  I don't care.  Why would I worry about a disease that I have to be tested to tell if I had it, especially one with a 99% survival rate and had doctors not been forbidden from prescribing effetive treatments would have been higher.
