I've read 2 posts where people mention back roads from Dadeville to Auburn. I am not aware of any back roads to Auburn. Would anyone care to elaborate? Let's say I'm sitting at Blue Creek Bridge. What is the best way to Auburn?

I went from dadeville to Destin florida last year and I tried to take the backroads. I went through or at least passed by near auburn. It was a nightmare. I had found all the right roads on the map, but the problem is MOST small state roads in Alabama are not marked. I would drive for miles not knowing what highway I was on. I think this might be a good argument for a higher taxes. I had the same experience driving to Camp Cosby near B'ham. I guess well marked highways are not a priority for the Alabama DOT.

The so-called "back road" to Auburn is to take hwy. 50 east from Walnut Hill a few miles. Bear right on hwy. 72 (towards Girls Ranch) and follow that hwy. which becomes Farmville Road in Auburn. I turn right on Donahue drive and enter Auburn that way. Others may have more complete directions, but this is the shortest way to get to that (southeast) end of the lake from Auburn.

The Girl's Ranch is a facility that provides group homes for girls who, for a variety of reasons, don't have a normal home in which to live. Since the Girl's Ranch is on this road, it is referred to as "the Girl's Ranch road". I don't know if the name is official or simply an unofficial name, but it is widely used.
