TODAY'S NEWS( Much to the chagrin of the NRA.) I guess this illustrates that even gun safety "experts" can accidentally shoot people. Just think what the general population can do!
My Mom was right. There IS no such thing as a safe gun. Another lesson for gun junkies is the Jayson Williams story. Playing with his gun and acting like a tough guy , he killed an innocent soul.

ORLANDO, Florida (AP) -- A federal drug agent shot himself in the leg during a gun safety presentation to children in what police describe as an accident. His bosses, however, are still investigating the incident.
The Drug Enforcement Administration agent, whose name was not released, was speaking April 9 to about 50 adults and students organized by the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association, witnesses and police said.
He drew his .40-caliber duty weapon and removed the magazine, according to the police report. He then pulled back the slide and asked an audience member to look inside the gun and confirm it wasn't loaded.
Witnesses said when the agent released the slide, one shot fired into the top of his left thigh. The gun was pointed at the floor.
The agent was treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center and returned to work, a DEA official said.

Maybe we should do away with all cars and trucks if we want to save lives. I dont think we can compare guns and autos but I'm sure you will find a lot more death acurr in autos.

In the Military it is called a weapon not a gun, as I was told in a class in 1962 by a instructor,this my weapon this is my gun, this is for killing,this is for fun. He held a Carbine in one hand, grabbed his crouch in the other.

It's the idiots that misuse guns that are not safe. Clear thinking people are able to differentiate between guns and people. Jason William's jury was full of people who couldn't.

In America, guns kill almost forty thousand people each year. A majority of these deaths could have been prevented with relatively simple solutions. (yeah,like banning assault rifles and stricter handgun,i.e., conceled weapons, control) Don't worry , you yahoos can still hunt all you want. I just don't want your little Johnny walking into my kid's school with his daddy's 45 or AK 47 in his napsack.

And PLEASE don't compare cars to guns. That argument just does not hold water. You could compare other weapons of war with guns, such as hand grenades and flame-throwers. Hey, why don't you lobby to legalize them for the general public!? I'm sure with proper safety precautions no one would be hurt. Afterall, these weapons "don't kill people; people do". Isn't that the NRA mantra?
