I'd like to hear ideas on the best restaurant on the lake. Factors to consider are taste, price, and atmosphere.

Thanks!

When you say "on the lake", I'll take that to mean accessible by boat only. With that being said:
- Niffers. Park at Blue Creek and walk a very short distance. Good all around.
- Sinclairs. Decent food, fair prices, good svc. And very nice, outdoor deck. Only problem is dock is open to wakes from traffic on the main channel (have good fenders).
- Harbor Point Marina. Good pizza by the slice at normal price, good outdoor patio, other selections available, and decent beer/wine selection. Not a full-svc restaurant (yet) but lots of other selections.
- Dockside Grill. Don't know when it'll be open this season but has always been competitive with Niffers (in my opinion).
- Oskars. Definitely good cooking but a heckuva walk from the lake, especially along 49.
- Cove. Last time experienced, eh. Based on opinions given recently on the Forum, will have to give it a shot again. A little more classy and pricey but may have chg'd.
- Bay Pine BBQ. Good 'q at good price. Sides are store-bought (last year). Don't know times for this year.
- Lakeside (by 280-bridge). Outside of the aerobics workout from taking the stairs from the dock, good ol' fashion cooking at a great price. Buffett is very good.

Again, these are my opinions and may not reflect other peoples experiences.

not sure of the details but I believe it's this month to open. Some type of BBQ place at Real Island Marina. Cooking and serving out of a double wide is what I heard. But the company that will be there is an established BBQ rest. from somewhere in the near south. If and when I get more info will post it.

Oskars: The place for cheese, not much else.

The Cove: Uneven at times but the most upscale on the east side. Don't be in a hurry. Is capable of very good food. Bats about 700 now.

Niffers: Consistent, typical expanded bar food menu. Neat atmosphere.

Popular Dog's: Steaks taste like they are soaked in liquid smoke. Girlie sandwiches. Never tried prime rib - I hear it's good. What else you need to know?

Piney Woods: The best for catfish and fried. Period.

Sinclairs: Not bad, sorta upscale menu. Love the outdoor bar & view.

Circle K: Homey, catfish and fried - get a soloist for free!

Cecils: Clubby, Best in Alex city. Best steaks in the area. Operator knows what he is doing. A real restaurant.

Ellas - Lunch only (?) The place for soul food!

"wing place in Alex City" Forgot the name but actually pretty good. Chicken livers if they don't run out. (Can't find the Piggly Wiggly)

Hilltop: Pretty bad, fill your stomach with grease. Hey! They do sponsor the gospel hour so eat there sometimes. Nice view.

Bob's: (in Dadeville) The name says it all. B'fast & lunch.

Stillwaters: who knows, was good at times before the sale but went straight down the tubes. Hope this comes back, used to have a great buffet brunch. Anybody been lately?

Oh yeah, Chucks. This is some of the best pizza I've had. Chuck should have been a flower child!

I prefer the Dockside Grill (Anchor Bay) though I wish the new managers would change the menu a bit, and add a burger, a chicken sandwich, and some salad options. I haven't eaten there since March, so maybe the menu has expanded.

The pizza at Chuck's is hard to beat, but it can't be good for you! (Not that I care about that; if I did, I wouldn't eat so much of it, so often.)

Greg is da man. Currently leveling some land adjacent to the bar and adding palm trees for ambiance. Definitely is a flower child without the petals.
