This was the prelude to it...saw folks out practising their 'I dont see you' postures...not many boats out, but still some (enuf) that didnt pay any attention and almost run over or collide with others...and then have to have the abrupt turns and such..
And of course those who think its cool to go slow ...at ahlf plaen and dont even know they are putting out a max wake...had 2 foot waves crashing my sea wall ..AND THEY ALMOST RAN AGROUND TOO...WHAT GAWKERS..

so tired of it...I could stay home...but...that would mean the bores had won..

What is up with these dorks that run their boats at max wake? They can't be blind. I have seen them slow down in a no wake zone to a full plow! Must be ignorance. I wish they would put a little more emphasis on wakemaking and courtesy in the AL test for the license....

My floating dock is about to come apart from this weekend. And you can forget trying to put gas in the boat. Its like a magnet for boats and when they see you they slow down to half speed (max wake) I think I`ll throw a dive flag out and start writing down numbers.

This weekend I saw the biggest wake I have ever seen on the lake. It was made by an extremely large cabin cruiser/yacht. We were riding along behind it and the wake was taller than the height of my boat. RIDICULOUS!

Maybe they were "just having fun." Because, as you have told us, that makes everything OK, right?

Ok folks, let’s not start this again. There is nothing wrong with cabin cruisers. There is, however, a problem with stupid people driving cabin cruisers, or any boat.

If a boat leaves a mongo wake that that puts your floating dock in your yard, that’s ignorance. It's not the fault of the boat.....right? (kinda like guns killing people). On the other hand, if you live on big water, you need to expect……well, big water (I’m not talking about the 10 yard wake plow pass from a 35 footer….back to ignorance).

It's all about boating etiquette, neighborly etiquette, and that "not so common" common sense.

There will always be stupid people (maybe we should print some signs), but don't stereotype fun with stupidity or disrespect.

When they invent a cure for stupidity there will be a bunch of people out of work.

The marine police told me that the operator of the vessel is responsible for his/her wake!!!!

I know what you mean LakeBum!!

We usually say....Here comes a Farmer....He's plowing!

I am really not starting anything here so, don't take offense...but....You should see the wakes WE have to put up with on Chuck's slough!

Between ALL of the boats that go in and out of here....along with everyone Wake Boarding with the HUGE waves and the Double Ups involved...We get serious damage here every year that costs us Big Bucks!!

I am sure that is of no concern to anyone here and it is just part of living on the lake. But....we do have it very bad here!

I would venture to say....that Chuck's slough...gets the most traffic/wave damage due to it's size and containment.

I agree also...that it is the Driver...not the boat. WIth the larger boats, a little more caution needs to be involved..that's all.

We've seen several very near misses here on this slough and I believe it is just a matter of time before a very bad accident happens.

We see people leaving Chuck's with NO lights on regularly!!

That is very stupid and I don't have the slightlest idea why someone would do that.

Be careful out there everyone.....I believe most everyone here on this site KNOWS how to drive....but it's the OTHER guy we need to watch out for!!

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!!

And don't forget the the reason we have this weekend while you're at it....and at least take a moment during your weekend to remember why we are still free to have all of this fun!!

THANKS!!

Stratman.....

That may be true, but can you do about it? (legally)

It may be me but I always drive defensively. Nothing beats the guy I saw towing his 10 year old daughter on a tube pulling into pleasure point marina to buy gas and then deciding to reverse course, back in and the entire time had his daughter on the tube. The dock boy had to pull her out.
Oh yeah and he also pulled in front of 2 boats waiting for a space.

Saw the same thing happen at Anchor Bay this weekend. Guy towing son on tube behind a waverunner as he pulled into the marina just before closing when it is packed with people putting their boats up. It looked like every single boat that came by was going to hit the poor kid before they could spot him. Dad wasnt thinking very clearly.

OK, and then what? Realistically there is little or nothing that can be done legally.
