This may seem a silly questions but being from Florida my wife is deathly afraid of gators!! She demanded that I ask if lake Martin has gators on it?

Hi 57!!

I've never heard of any. I could be wrong....but we just don't have them up here.

Don't worry about it at all.

If there were gators around here...you wouldn't see me in the water!! : )

No, the karaoke ran them off. They are currently seeking legal remedies so that they may once again enjoy the fish eating quality of life that was once a reality.

They are all over the West side of the lake around Real Island!

Real Island area here, haven't seen one myself, however, I have a neighbor near me who says he saw one and pointed out where he saw it. Only problem here is he's mongoloid, and while I think he's a great guy, I have doubts about what he saw. I've heard there are some turtles that can resemble a gator head maybe.

As close as 60 miles south of us people have reported gators in ponds, I know one personally who has killed one in her pond. She's a 75 year old woman, and I don't doubt her skills with a gun or her word. (amazing lady by the way...truly)

I believe it's possible. I also suspect as clear as our waters are, and as busy as most of the lake is, one would have been reported and caught by now. I think the only thing that might bite us are the fish that nibble on my belly at the rock. Dang I hate those things.

While I have never seen any on the lake and doubt that they are there, it is definitly possible. I live only 40 miles from the lake and have seen 3 on the shores of the Alabama River myself--one of which was at least 10 feet long. Also, the animal control officer from Millbrook that retired about 5 years ago reported having captured 7 in his 30 year career.

However, the river is very different than the lake. It is murky and very remote in some locations. This is far more suitable for gators than the clear, high traffic waters of Lake Martin.

been coming to lake for 25 years, never saw one. Heard last night on WSFA in Montgomery that one has been found in a pond in Troy, Alabama. Saw a picture of it cruising on TV. Troy is about, I guess, 100 or so miles south of Martin.

Yes Sir, I took two OxyContin. I feel much better, and for some strange reason the wasp stings do not even hurt.

It is funny how the same type of post on gators are being made as last year. I am withdrawing my bounty offer just in case things have changed.

No harm - Good fun.

One lives at a lake house just West of Real Island.
Also the second largest gator farm in the USA is about 20 miles south of Montgomery off highway 231. They ship gators and gator parts all over the world. They have many thousands of gators there.

Contrary to all the gator tales, 25 years ago an individual brought a baby gator up to the ski club to show it off. He had caught it over in
Georgia where he was from. The Gator got loose in the ski club slough where it lived for a few years. It was found later up in the woods dead.

If any ski club members back in the late 70's out there
remember.

The gator stays in the yard near the water, but there is a dragon in the water nearby just before you get to the pier with the helicopter on it.
