Courious if anyone knows any information on the house boats (if that is what you call them) docked near Bay Pine Marina. They have been docked for several weeks constantly running very loud genators. It is kind of sad sitting on your dock at night trying to enjoying a peaceful lake evening having to listen to that! Another concern is waste? Are these boats/eyesores planning to stay long? If so how can we get them to leave!

Good Luck., folks have been complaining about them, and the travel trailers across the street , for years.

I've heard that the all the grounds that the marina sits on are owned by Alabama Power and leased to the marina owners. If this is true, I recommend taking your complaints to Alabama Power. They should be able to help. But will they? That remains to be seen.

Oh my goodness I didn't know this forrum existed and was doing some seraching on this verry topic in this location!!! Well here i am and ain't it the truth. I along with others have been communicating with Alabama Power already - just today actually.

Here is the low down of what we have found out. FIrst offense was running an extension cord across the road from the marina - the sheriff's department had them move that - unlawfull to run an extension cord across a county road! Then they brought the generators in! No law about that - no noise ordinacne on the lake! Alabama Power had the marine police perform an extensive search this weekend. THere is a new law that states something to the effect that you cannont rent a boat slip to a house boat with bathroom facilities unless the owner of the property being rented has a pump house station (which she does not) But guess what the Marine Police has found no operating facilities on board. They are using Port-a-potties. No law against that either. SO in essence - they are breaking no laws at all. So i am being told that nothing can be done about it. This probably effects me the most. As when i sit on my floating dock we have an audience. Things are sure not the same down there since they have populated the slips like they have. We may have to ban together and all go down and have a talking to the marina owner. We could ask nicely for her to address the issue and if she doesn't then after that we may need to spread the news to shop elsewhere

There is an ordinance regarding how loud a boat can be. If the generator is powering the boat, would that not be a 'loophole'?

I am not a lawyer, and didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but enquiring minds want to know.

I've always thought of a 'loophole' as a way to get around having a law apply to you. The way it was just described is exactly opposite of that - it would be a way to get a law applied that is not currently applied in this situation. We should think up a new word for this idea - the opposite of a loophole.

I was told that there are no noise ordinances in that area. THe lake outside the city limits. But if you know who i could call i will.

I really like your name, Aqua girl. I need to improve mine. Something about pirates. We fly A skull and crossed swords pirate flag on our boat. Any name ideas for me?

I am pretty sure the ordinance applies to boat motors. That is why some have to have the silencer switch. It is measured at so many decibels at so many feet. Liek I said, looking for a loophole....

It's not a house boat is it?!?!

No, it's a Sea Ray pirate ship. Did you see the movie " Chocolatte' " with Johnny Depp. He plays a gypsy on a house boat. Cool movie. He also makes a GREAT pirate!!

and we can make all kinds of prank phone calls, inquire about slips, book one, then turn it down cause we drove up and heard the noise.

I find it hilarious that an ordinance concerning boat motor noise is mentioned here. : D

Just goes to show your hypocrisy and selective indignation. : D

I only posted one time on the whole Chuck's thread, and that was when you made some statement totally over the top. Not my fight dewd. And you won't get one from me here either. But I did say, after a few dozen of your insane posts, that I would go to Gregs and check it out. I have, and loved it. You should learnto love it too, cuz it aint going nowhere.

I helped him build part of it. I went out and bought light weight gear, hung speakers, ran cabling, sent a person that bought his 1st boat and rented his 1st cabin back when there wasn't much money coming into the marina at that time. I did my part being a good neighbor....but it came back to bite me and others in the a$$. : D

We used to go to karaoke when it was just once a month. Then stopped when it became rediculous at everyweekend.

After the courtcase when the judge said there would be no karaoke on Fridays....the loophole was then used by the marina owner and now they have bands on Friday. Not too honorable and it's taking advantage of the spirit of the law.

Nothing lasts forever.....and anyone that thinks so is nieve....: D

Have a great day!!

Never went looney the first time. : D

But I'll beg to differ with you what the difference between noise pollution is. : D

It's not just 3 hours......it's 8:00-11:00pm.....every Friday and Saturday nights......holidays....whatever days......April thru October....every year. : D

There's a difference.

And trust me......there is NO talent there........it's pretty scary and funny at the same time!! : D

I wish I could. It is a excellent piece of property with a lot of potential. I hope whoever get it makes some major changes! But until then we need to do what we can to get it cleaned up now. Those boats have got to go.

I do know that the people on the boat don't like rap music. Call me mean but I sat a Boom box Out sunday before last ALL NIGHT Blasting at them. Told him I would cut it off when The generator went off. Nothing but dirty looks. :) Oh well they got the point. Didn't do any good but at least they know I am annoyed.. :)

I am still pulling strings to try and get something done. I won't give up without a fight.. I know several people in our area that are willing to go in and buy the marina. Just not willing to give her what she wants which is in the $400,000 range. It must be gold lined inside. at least sound proof inside huh..

Are you kidding $400,000 that is insane. Do you know how much property it is? I don't know the zoning laws in AL but even if you were to tear it down and make it into home lots...that would be great! The marina does not get much business anyway from what I hear it would not be a wise investment.

Name:   Marina Guy - Email Member

Not much property at all. There isn't even a septic system on the property. Only a holding tank that has to be pumped out ever so often. I hope often enough sence the house boats moved in and apparently dont have any facilities on board (which I DON'T believe) And when I heard the Marine police were going to invistigate and who was doing it I knew the outcome. HELLO!! Didn't she date this guy for a while!! All I will say is Next string comming up.

That is a major concern of mine...the waste as well as the noise. And I am sure those House Boats/Floating Trailers DO have bathrooms! I guess the heath department can be called...they have to respond to any complaint. And if she (the owner) is not doing the septic properly then that will be a BIG DEAL!

I'm checking into the health department thing. A few details I want to find out before I waste another string. I want to make sure of what and where things are going. Maybe a map with spots to check would be nice.

Be sure to have them check the travel trailers on the other side of the road. From what I hear she rents those too. but I beleive it is a leased lot, so all you get for that 400k is 'blue sky' which she has little of. Her neighbors dont trade there, at least the one I know doesn't.

You can put Pleasure Point Park in the same category as far as septic is concerned.
