Need some new "fill" lines dug. Any suggestions on who to use on the south side of the lake (Tallapoosa Co.)?

You probably mean field lines (sounds like fill in alabamian) try john farrow. he should be in the book Farrow land clearing...if he doesn't do them, he can recommmend someone up there who does...another quick way to find good local people in that area is to ask Butch @ walnut hill grocery/gas...i think it is a chevron...across from BP at 49 and 50.

Have heard good things about Leon Archer. I think He's in Alex City

Leon told me he would do my job the week before Thanksgiving. He's been making excuses and putting me off ever since then. That's why I'm looking for someone else to do the work.

Sorry to hear that about Leon. It amazes me how you have to beg people to work. Especially at the lake

I think you are correct, but it is interesting seeing all the signs posted everywher when you are riding around the Lake. One would think by all these little littering advertising signs on the public right of ways that people were begging for work.

I'm not sure if all the contractors are making money or not but the sign companies are....

Hates all that trash! Ought to be an ordinance against it.

Amen-Amen... Would be simple to require that they be permitted. I'll bet there would be a sign patrol organized just off this forum.

Well RR, You know I have been harping about this one on the Forum for a couple of years now. I went out one week just about every night and tore down a couple of pickup truck bed loads of them and burned them. That did not even make a dent. I figured if they had the right to post them on the public right away; then I had the right to rip them down. Hate all the other signs since they are also littter but did not bother them. The roofers and gutter guys have huge ladders and there signs are too high to reach.

You got to believe that if they are nasty enough to litter our beautiful Lake area; then why would we want to do business with them. On top of that if they can't afford to pay for advertising, do you really want to trust them? I bet a majority of them are out of business anyway and just never removed their trash.

Yes, there should be an ordinance against it with a heafty fine of $500.00 per sign and that goes for everything except temporary two day open house real estate signs and official street and traffic signs. Political signs should also not be allowed.

Now after that rant, I feel better.

I think you are right as rain about the signs - most are out of business but won't come back and pull them down. What's the chance of getting a sign ordinance passed and while you are at it -my pet peeve- some kind of leash law in subdividisions, AND pet peeve #2- trash burning. Dadeville sanitation will pick up anything but here we go on a beautiful afternoon smoke and ash are everywhere. Don't know about Alex City.

Whew, I feel better too....

However my trash collector won't pick up schitt and always leaves the trash can dead smack in the middle of the driveway. Probably knows and is prejudice against weekenders. Whew, much better now myself.

Uh oh Feb.....we AGREE on something. Is this a kum-bah-ya (how DO you spell that anyway?) moment or what? :)
Have ripped down my share of signs before too. Some had been nailed to a tree for a decade....

Why don't we organize a "tear down sign" weekend. Seems like the only topic we can all agree on. Kum-by-ya indeed.

Just don't raise the issue of removing personal signs like the ones that direct you to so & so's cabin. I am against those signs also, but I can still feel the sting of the paddling I got from raising that issue on the Forum two years ago. Then you can't get an ordiance passed since the political factor wants to post their election signs like a line of ants heading to the honey spill. Then there are the wealty developers that want to direct all traffic to the newest condos and etc. You are going to need a lot more than a 1/2 a gonad to take on some of these issues. No offense intended on that one mudpuddle, but I did want to use your analogy.

No one away from the Lake has to tolerate all this kind of litter in their neighborhoods - particularly the advertising. So, what makes us Lake property owners second class citizens? Is everyone so jealous of us that they have to try to humble us by destroying what we have with their intrusive garbage?

Oh crap, I am beginning to feel terrible again. Got a splinter in my backside.

I'm pretty sure there is a leash law in the Alexander City limits, but that doesn't help most lake folks. I'm not sure about the trash burning.

I love reading the forum! I have learned soooo much about the lake since I've found this. The funny thing is that men think women get off the subject,..... THIS group proves that theory wrong! I love it! :)
