Brain-dead jurors, average fed prosecutors, shrewd defense team....this recurring theme of not guilty on all counts quite frankly speaks volumes of how inept our justice system has become.

This guy is smart, as I stated before, most idolized person on this lake, and now has proved himself to be not guility on all counts,as he said . And, I for one belived him from the start.

This doesnt bother me really. Scrushy does waste alot of his money, but he has done a lot of good as well. I'm not a shareholder in Healthsouth and I certainly wasnt eagerly waiting on the government to start auctioning a bunch of assets that I can't afford anyway. Do I want to be Scrushy. . .no. Would I like all of his assets. . .of course. I personally think that he will do more for Alabama with his money than the government would have done with it.

I feel basically the same as you on this. I am getting tired of zealous prosecutors wasting taxpayer money forcing long drawn-out trials with
inadequate evidence.......grand juries have to share the blame in cases like this........85 felony count indictments and not a single one proven guilty!

Biggest mistake was trying this case in B-Ham. He would have had a far tougher time escaping with a Manhattan jury.

After watching this Federal team in action, Eric Rudolf should be rethinking his guilty plea.

But I think the biggest problem is that the laws have become so complicated that the jurors don't understand them and can't figure out what they mean. Then they have to acquitt

The way I think a jury should be picked is the following,. Throw 200 hundred names of taxpayers in the State or County where the crime was commited, with no felony convictions or worse, in a hat pick 12 or 6 whatever the case may be and 2 alternates, that would save a lot of time. Then after the trial the Judge keep his mouth shut, instead of talkng to the jury, such as reasonablel doubts and etc. Found guility no appeals, marched straight to jail or or the death chamber. I would venture the crimes would drop immediately.

I have an idea, put the prisoners on a website so they have no privacy, execute them in front of a web cam and sell subscriptions to benefit the victims :-D

Idolized by whom? It seems to me that he's the most reviled person on the lake, except for some zealots who don't like Ben Russell. At least the people who hate Scrushy have legitimate reasons.

With this verdict, and the looming election of Judge Roy Moore to the governor's mansion, it looks like ALabama will continue to be the laughingstock of the free world. But we shouldn't complain; we get what we deserve.

I for one am sickened by the verdict, though not surprised. To be fair to the "process," I was not present in the courtroom for the months of testimony and weeks of jury deliberation, so I was not presented with all the information that the 12 jurors had to digest. If you ask me, the whole ordeal just doesn't pass the "sniff test" though. If he is not personally guilty of fraudulent activity, he should be guilty of ignorance. To assume that 10 or more of his subordinates could mastermine and carryout this $multibillion fraud WITHOUT his knowledge or arousing his suspicion is ludicrous. He was being paid millions of dollars in annual salary and bonuses...to BE in charge, to manage the company...he should have known, and shoud be responsible. I thought that was the spirit of the new Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Between OJ, Michael Jackson and now Screw-shy, my faith in the justice system is faltering. Oh well, maybe civil suits which are sure to follow will find him guilty. It would be nice to see some of his ill-gotten wealth redistributed to the shareholders who have lost money from the whole shady deal.

......just my opinion, I could be wrong.

AS I recall, you've already left; you live in Georgia, right? And you hink you have the right to suggest that I leave Alabama, when you choose to live somewhere else yourself? If only you were smart enough to understand irony!
