Why try to get me ticked off? All I did was pose a question to which the replys only point to money. No one has answered the question. But I can see a mental block in your thinking and it reflects on your values. Material things is what you're saying matters most to you and somehow that is suppose to make the lake better. All you have to do is look at Georgias situation ( lakes and rivers ) to see what I mean. Peace to you scarab man.

I don't have a dog or a cat in this scrap. Kind of wondering if it is not a moot issue. What is the status of the club? Haven't heard anything else about it, how to join, meetings, or meeting locations. Are you folks going to actually establish a club, or are you still kind of batting the idea around to see if there is any real interest? Might want to meet by rotating at different member's cabins so you could be right on the water. I guess there could be a docking issue with the number and size of the boats.

Lakeman, there are already different types of clubs on the lake. They do not enhance the tranqulity of the lake for others or have some big economic impact. Its about having friends and a hobby. Maybe you need to try one. Whether its the Mickey Mouse club or the Hell's angels, if your not in it it really does not and will not effect you.

By the way, powerboats are the smallest percentage of boats in the U.S. What is a powerboat. I have seen pontoon boats with power. There is probably only a handfull of real powerboats on the lake anyway. How could that bother anyone. What interest do you have. Lets try a positive route here and drop the whole club thing. See you at the rock (well some of you).

Thanks for the attack fountain. If it's for friend or a hobby then it's not a problem but the attitude expressed seems to be " the faster the better " which could get out of hand if left unchecked. I have not attacked anyone and I do have friends and a hobby. But speed on this size lake in my oppinion is a safety issue. Taxes paid will not bring back a life or repair an injured body. This lake is for flood controll first, residential second and recreation last. I know that you and other power boat owners are responsible curtious operators but I have witnessed others who are not. I'm not against a club. I just posed a question. Peace

I know that you and other power boat owners are responsible curtious operators but I have witnessed others who are not. ...I agree 100%. Even others without fast boats.
But, to some of us faster is better! That is what we like, done within a reasonable situation, like a long non-crowded section of the lake. We don't constanly run around with excessive speed, but it is fun to do it sometimes. I still say more boater education and saftey.

Actually, i am raising one now. He is 14, so far so good. He thinks all the boat stuff is cool right now. Maybe, if i am lucky, it'll stay that way, and he can ride me around the lake in a couple of years. It's best millertimejr keeps his mind on boats, and not drugs i guess. If he's lucky, he will work hard, get a good career and continue to enjoy himself. I have met him, and he seems to be a great kid. Could be worse.

Well, Regional beverage distributor do pretty well. That could be where the handle comes from and the resources.

Just making a humous guess millertime.jr. No offense intended.

Now, I am curious about the new stranger in town taking pot shots at Lakeman. Doubt we will ever find anything out about that one. Probably another one of those or maybe one of the old that likes to try to bring everyone else down to their level. They will never reveal anything about themselves since there is shame on their part in revealing.

I have found in my 42 years that it takes a lot less energy to be nice, and it keeps the stress down. Jr. must be having a great time at 20 years old. It takes a lot of responsibility to handle a high dollar go fast boat. Also, now that i think about it..... you just gave a loud, go fast boater a compliment... i'm not used to that.

Jr. you owe noone any appology here. I enjoyed the visit and conversations at the Lake Martin Poker Run. Hope to see you at the coast. This forum does'nt require proper punctuation, spelling or grammer. Why don't you start a spelling and grammer club on the lake. We'll meet at chucks and meet for longneck meeting, then powerboat club meeting, and i'll bet everyone leaves before your spelling and grammer meeting. This forum does'nt allow advertisments, so, if you're opening up a school for remedial grammer, do it in classifieds. See how many calls you get.

Hi Sally, Welcome to the Forum. What is your interest in this Forum? I just want to get to know you a little better. Do you live on Lake Martin? Do you own property on Lake Martin? Do you visit Lake Martin? Do you have a boat? Do you have a boating interest? Do you fish?

I guess what I am asking is what rocks your boat? Maybe & just maybe you can let us know something about yourself other than the alias Sally.

Lake Martin and this Forum are friendly places. Please put a smile on your face, jump in and have a good time. Please share and stop trying to hurt others. You are only inflicting your own pain, and we feel for you.

Yes, I am a property owner on Lake Martin; I'm one of the dreaded "full-timers," and have been for almost thirty years now. We do own a boat-- three, in fact, if you count the sailboat. Therefore, I do have a boating interest. I have fished before, though other members of myfamily are much more interested in fishing than I.

My interest in this forum is simple: it revolves around Lake Martin. I live on Lake Martin.

My interest in the grammatical horrors that occur here are also twofold: I don't want people who read this forum to familarize themselves with our area to come to the conclusion that we are all a bunch of illiterate rednecks. And I like to read the posts on this forum, which is much easier to do if I'm reading instead of deciphering. imeandewyurillythinkizeasertoreedthispargrafthnifiwuztousepunctashunandprorspelin

Subject:   Stupid people deserve...
Date:   8/17/2005 11:14:45 AM

stupid questions. ;-) Sorry, but you walked right into that one.

My reasoning for desiring, and expecting, decent grammar is not hard to understand. First, I don't want people who visit this forum to come away with the opinion that all Lake Martinites are ignorant rednecks. Alabama has a bad enough reputation already; why make it worse by showing the world that we have college students who appear to write at a beginner's level?

Also, I enjoy reading the posts on this forum, and that's much easier to do when I'm reading, not deciphering..

I have no interest in teaching remedial grammar; you had grammar school teachers who were paid to do that job. Besides, if I did it I would have to spend time with the likes of you, which I have no desire to do. But since you seem to be interested, I'll give you a quick lesson: the word is "doesn't," not "does'nt.;" it's spelled "grammar," not "grammer;" and "chuck's" should be capitalized. I'll give you credit for using the proper form of your/you're; many posters get that wrong every time.

Lesson over; you can go play with your loud, fast boat now, so eveyone wil think you're cool. (Well, that's what you like to think, anyway. Most of us know that the size of your boat is your feeble attempt to make up for your lack of size in other places.)

Funny, you do have a since sense cents of humor. Feb, you take care of me while i have gone to the poker run at destin. As always, i am in a hurry because of work or other to proof read this post, so if you dont mind do it for me. (or else sally will). And Sally, if you call me ignorant again, you and I will have some serious issues to resolve. You dont know me and it is right to call me that. Oh yea, about the size of the boat vs. size of other things.... well...... if i was a chinese man, "me love you long time". Please sally, leave me alone. I'll have my grammar teacher give you a call. I'll check in with yall on sunday when i return. have a safe weekend.

Hi Sally, Thank you for answering my questions. You are very fortunate if you are a full timer. Trust me, I do not think of that as dreaded.

You have much to add to the Forum as a full timer beyond grammar lessons..

I may understand your cross to shoulder. I feel the same way about folks that post about the dreaded Yankees. There are no adversaries based upon what State you were born in or spent most of your life. We have brave young men and women from every State dying every day for the call of duty. It sickens me to know that. I cry each and evey evening for their parents and love ones. We are all one and should be judged upon individuality and character and not other factors.

Please post again about something that you feel good about and observations on the Lake. We enjoy those post. I welcome disagreement and not judgements or character. .

I don't know who JIM is talking about. But if I had to guess by what JIM said about "grade this", I would guess me.

Nope, JIM - not even close on the description...except, yes, I do have 2 kids...married, taller, thinner, older.

JIM - do you own on Blue Creek?

If he was describing me, he has mistaken me for someone else. I am 6"5", 215lbs, married to a fine woman, and have two kids.

He/she must be talking about WALDO then. Remember Where's Waldo?

But how did a description of somebody even get into the conversation?
I must have missed that leap. But, of course, I am blonde!!!!!!!! So it would figure I couldn't follow the line of thinking...LOL

for your information my family has a bunch of rental property and stock , i dont know if you have ever heard of Bruton Al. but thats where we are from. T. R. Miller was my great grandfather "Miller Foresty" any way miller time was my dads nic name in high school and it carried over to me, so when we got the boats we couldn't think of a more fitting name , any more questions?

Thank you Mr. Miller Jr., That just show you were some our less than pure minds were at. Kind of cool the way it turns out. Bet you enjoyed and were proud to post the accurate story - especially when you got the last laugh on some of us.

I wonder ......when my son gets his first boat, if he will name it "Bling it on jr." or "Jr. Blung it on"
omg. that would be funny, but i am sure they will have another word for bling by then. And, when shoefly's daughter gets her first boat, she might name it "Shoeflew".

He could also mean "Brewton." Either way, we're talking about someone who can't even spell the name of his hometown, yet if you dare make any comments about his intelligence (or maybe his carelessness, to give him more credit than he probably deserves) then look out.

His is the generation that will be running the country before long; I hope no one minds the carelessness and lack of detail when he and his ilk are in charge of everything. I can see it now: "oh im sorry i axidently gave all uv yer money to someone else; plz keep using our bank tho" or "this iz yur capt. milertimejr speeking, and as soon as i learn how to land this airplain i will, tho im not sure where we are. iz all good tho coz i gots lots of BLING."

Hey hey..... leave bling out of this. Your post sure was insulting to jr. Who are you to judge an entire generation? Don't get mad at me now, but that was pretty insulting.

We sure are a fine generation to be judging the generation that we raised. I think our parents probably far surpassed our generation in a lot of categories. I personally think we have things in a pickle. Appears to be more and more things broken in society and the world these days. Our Southern borders are just highways for the immigration of illegals from South America and Mexico. Have we or are we doing anything about it? I want go into all the things that I see wrong or feel bad about. Just look at what our generation has done to the National Debt, and that is what we are leaving to the next generation. We feel great that we only put the Country in the Red another three hundred and fifty plus billion this year alone. "Oh it was less than we were expecting it to be."

I guess the bottom line is that the next generation is the generation that we raised or allowed to infilitrate here. If anyone is to blame then we can look in the mirror.

I will add that I have met some mighty fine young people in the past few years. They are out there and probably in greater numbers than the opposite.

the bad part is that most of these people dont know me at all, i get on this forum to talk and have fun not to debate my back ground or generation and so what if i miss spell some words, if you do your preaching behind an alias on a computer then you must not be to concerned with how people perceive your message

millertimejr, you wave your flag behind a alias, I am a man you are a boy. you talk like you are the best thing since loaf bread. Kinda like I was told in my younger years in H.S.. A coach once made the statement to me, I wish I could buy you at you are worth and sell you for what you think you are worth, I would be a millionaire with a very small investment. Talking about me not you.
