The old Lake Martin Living, which has been around for almost 20 years, or the new Lake Magazine, which has been around since the spring?

Originally, I thought the new Lake Magazine was replacing the Lake Martin Living Magazine but now they both are in print. I prefer the tried and true Lake Martin Living Magazine.

Is this a trick question? I like them both.

I like them both, though there is no question that the original Lake Martin Living used to be better than it is. Lately it seems to be nothing more than one big advertisement for Russell Lands and The Ridge. Why, in this most recent issue, the Growing Up column even ended with a segment about the benefits of development; I never thought I'd see the day when that particular author would take that stance. And I thought it was especially inappropriate for him to end a story about his mother's passing that way. I didn't know her, but I wonder what she would think? (I guess everyone has their price, but couldn't he have waited a month?)

As for the new Lake Magazine, it seems to have more stories that might appeal to a broader range of people. (Then again, as a newer publication, it has more stories it can run without "repeating itself," if you know what I mean.) But it also seems to be mostly advertisments. And, I must say, the early issues contained far too many errors! Maybe they'd like to hire me as a proofreader? ;-)

I do like the color pictures in the new magazine. Not just because they are color; some of them are quite stunning. I like that in the new magazine I can see color pictures of the lake, while the old magazine seems to limit its color to advertisements.

All in all, I think it is wonderful and exciting that this area can have two magazines devoted exclusively to the lake! I do hope that both magazines continue to improve. After all, we deserve the best! ;-)

what magazine they prefer to read? If they could read, they would maybe write better. (Just kidding!! :-)

FWIW, I prefer the original; you can count on there being one thing worth reading, even if you have to go all the way to the back of the magazine to find it. The new one hasn't given me that yet, though the color photographs are nice.

the response would indicate that you're not. However, I'll be optimistic and say that people wanted to respond, but couldn't because the forum wasn't working properly.
