The auction is for the contents of the conference center.

I heard the auction was for the kitchen stuff etc. in the conference center. I also heard that the issue of the fire truck had been fixed with the builders donating a ladder truck to stillwaters. They said the condo's would be 8 stories, I think.

The plans for the highrise condo at the site of the old conference center are for a 12 story building. The developers have even started advertising for the building in the AU Football Program. There HAS NOT been a donation of a ladder truck by any developer. The StillWaters VFD has applied for a grant to purchase a 75 ft Ladder Truck, but the grant has not been awarded as of this date. Obviously, a 75 ft ladder will not be very effective on the upper floors of such a building, but the grant was applied for before the SWVFD was aware of plans to build a 12 story building at Harbor Pointe and the 8 story buildings at Sunset Pointe. The buildings will include full fire protection systems, but will certainly pose serious challenges for fire and rescue personnel.

That just goes to show you.... believe half of what you hear........no matter who you hear it from!

Ben Franklin was a little more pessimistic, he advised to "believe none of what you hear and half of what you see"......

Also, wasn't there a part about - believe nothing that you read.

Feb, don't know if Ben added that or not but one of my favorite Franklin quotes goes something like this:

"He that displays too often his wife and his wallet is in danger of having both of them borrowed." :> )

You can belive anything that JIM post, the worst mistake he ever made was the time he thought he made a mistake. What a bunch or horse chit that is, HA,HA,.

According to Summit Realty Southeast, the building at the old conference center is supposed to be 12 stories. I am curious why anyone would even want to be that high on the lake. You get to a point where all you see is the next slew - its not the beach where the view is forever.

My favorite quote - and it is a side note to what you guys are talking about about believing, hearing, and seeing is:

There are 3 sides to every story.

What he said.
What she said.
And what really happened.

It has been my philosophy, as teacher, for many years.
