For many of us "long-timers" the publication Lake Martin Living has been a part of our experience at the lake for many years. One writer has continued to be enjoyable throughout the many changes in the magazine over the years with his column "Growing Up." Bailey Jones' column will no longer appear in LML and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for years of fun and laughter we have enjoyed through his columns. I read them as a kid (well, almost a kid...sorry Bailey:) and my child has been reading them for a decade at least. His stories put into words many of our own similiar experiences while enjoying the simple, quiet, peaceful and natural surroundings the lake has offered in the past and still offers to some extent now.
Best of luck to you Bailey from all of us at our cabin! Maybe the publication you choose to continue to write in will be more easily obtained! We haven't been able to find a copy of LML all summer and have had to go to great lengths to beg and borrow long enough to read "Growing Up!"

Why has the magazine been so hard to get ? I too seem to find it less and less. Use to pick it up at Jordan store, the shell station at Trillium cut off and hwy 63, but they always seem to be out.

Will the magazine continue ? I have seen another magazine, called Lake somthing ???? but it too seems to go fast.

Looks like the green-eyed monster is hard at work! Tell us JIM, are you this jealous all the time, or only when you're drunk? Or maybe you're just drunk all the time, and therefore jealous all the time.

I've only met Bailey two or three times, but I know someone who is mentioned in his stories quite frequently, and I can say this with absolute conviction: not only are the stories he writes the absolute truth, but the stories he won't write are even better! Now that he's not under the thumb of the oppressed leaders of LML, we might get to hear some of those untold stories.

Jim has always reminded me of one of those pre-teen boys experiencing his first crush, and getting teased by his friends about it. So what does he do? He takes every possible opportunity to make fun of, pinch, trip, hurt the object of his desire. (I would say he dips her pigtails in the inkwell, but that would be dating myself.)

"reframe" -- I'm pretty sure this is not the word you are looking for.

Don't play dumb, JIM; all of us longtimers know that you try to put down BAJ every chance you get, and this thread is no exception. And I believe it is because you have great admiration for him, and you hate yourself for that; now that admiration has turned to lust, I think your anger will be even greater. But the sooner you admit that you're angry at yourself, things will get better.

As far as BAJ, when he posted my home address on this board,he knew that was wrong,then he denied it, Bruce deleted it right away at my request. Any respect that I had for him at that time was gone. Fact: anyone who knows how to use the search feature on this site, and who knows all of your other handles (JIMBOB, JIMBO, etc.) can do some research and see that you've had your man-crush since before BAJ ever had a book out, so don't blame your constant slobbering over him on the book.

And if what you say is true (which I am sure it isn't) then BAJ deserves all sorts of respect; if I had been in his position, I would have made the drive over to your place and taught you a lesson or two about what respect really means.

You have claimed that BAJ posted your address; yet in the thread that you just linked, you admit that it was a PARTIAL address, which probably means the city!

Dang JIM, getting caught lying is one thing; telling on yourself is another. How stupid do you have to be to do that? (Judging from your posts, I'd say you already had a lack on "pretty darn stupid." "Libable?" You need to buy a dictionary... and then hire someone who can read to look up words for you.)

By the way, that thread you directed us all to makes another point for me: BAJ makes a post that gets a series of "Nice Post" type comments... except for one lone exception: you. Like I said, you've had it in for him from the beginning. Is it jealousy... or lust?

I notice he hasn't posted here for more than year now; I'm sure you've sprained your shoulder patting yourself on the back for that. You must be so proud. But hey, everyone needs to be proud of something, and you sure can't be proud of your intellect, education, social skills, hygeine,or anything else, so I guess you have to make do.

longtimer, I just tell it like it is, he posted my street and city, there are only 13 houses on my st. He got this infomation from the transaction from buying his book, he is a story teller (his novel proves that) if he says he did not post that info. but street and city is a partial address, not an address. What happened might not be right, but you exaggerating what happened isn't right either, and it makes it look like you've got an agenda, and not a legitimate beef.

FWIW, I like his stories, and have always believed them to be true. If they're not, then I'm even more impressed; from what I've heard, it's a whole lot harder to make something up than to just repeat what happened. So in a way, you're paying him a tremendous compliment.
