"Firing order, compression, cylinders"...what's a girl to do?
"Port engine, aspirated, equation", all this is something new,
To one who never thought about how cars and boats are run,
But only wants to be in them because they're so much fun.

"Check out that chick, have a beer" are the only thoughts guys think,
"Let's hit the bar after work and have another drink!"
The 19th hole at the golf course is where they hit the booze,
They talk all day about their play and don't think they act like fools.

But men are boys when it comes to girls, bikes, boats, and cars,
They like them all to not only be fast but to go real far,
And then give them thrills and help them to forget,
About how much all four can really put them in debt.

But one thing is clear that we all hold dear and that is our Lake Martin.
But watch out gals, after they down those beers, our boys will be a fartin'.

Engine mechanics, beer, and poetry all wrapped up in one
But how is the guy to get noticed when all the fartin's done!

HAHAHAHAHA Jawjagal, my goblet of "Pink Pantie Pulldown" is raised to you!

And if you didn't read my thread (earlier) to you-we're local, just a hop skip and a jump from the lake.

See? This is all an English major is good for....I guess I could write for Hallmark....or those other more RACEY (get it? RACEY - like in boats, bikes, cars, girls) card manufacturers.

I loved English LIt in college.... Remember the 3 inch thick book they used at UGA ... and the fine arts building was really a nice haven....

I think Auburn TODAY is Georgia from YESTERDAY...the campus...the students...the spirit,...the size. You know UGA today is so international. That's great on one hand, but yet, it's not what we had when we were there. So, I see why my UGA friends like for their children to go to Auburn. Wasn't Athens a great place to play?

What was your major?

You make a very good point. I bought UGA season tix a few years ago and I didn't recognize the place. I don't know the sizes but I'll bet AU is not as huge as UGA has become. My daughter loved it. AU has a really nice campus. I have been meaning to check out that beautiful baseball stadium too.

Someone made a comment about the two schools being more like brothers rather than ex's. That pretty much summed it up. In spite of some of the stuff you read here I think the relationship between the schools is really tight and the grads get along just fine. A lot better than some of the factions within AU that I've read & heard about. The universities have shared coaches, athletic directors etc. And we can keep our perspective can't we....

I was a chemistry major. Never practiced though. Got snared in commercial real estate in ATL.

I just had a child look into colleges '04. I know about UGA and Auburn:

UGA has between 36,000 and 42,000
Auburn is about 24,000

I am sure this includes graduate and doctorate programs as well. PLUS -for Georgia, it may include those satellite campuses like in Gwinnett and Griffen, etc. AND it might include distant learning...all on-line courses. I suppose Auburn has satellite campuses as well, but living near Atlanta, I just don't know where they are.

I know the kinds of students going, having taught high schoolers. I know about GPA's, Freshman index, SAT scores, all that. Ask me anything. I really researched it. You would be surprised....and not in the way you think!!!!!!!!!

jawjagal. I bet the worst mistake you ever made in your life, was that time you thought you made a mistake .

Oh, gosh no. I have made tons of mistakes. TONS!!!!!!!!!!! But like you know mechanical things, I know school things. I'm supposed to know to advise students; but I especially wanted to know to help my son decide on the college of his choice.

I could write a book on this one. At least that what my friends tell me. But I really don't know a whole lot of other stuff....I am a jack of all trades, but a master of none....but education is pretty darn close.

How 'bout you?
