We went over last Sunday from Georgia. The new North Cove Condominiums or something right near North Marina at the bridge...what's up with that? It is VERY resorty. I would think - and I think I read it is - would do very well...but that view! It's the bridge!!!!!!!!! Maybe that's why the prices are reasonable for all the amenities that you get.

Russell Lands is building that ugly, 'apartment' complex to sell to Atlanta people so that they can enjoy the view--just like I-285--and sleep to the sounds of trucks shifting gears to climb the hill, just like 'back home'., and live on top of each other, just like 'back home'. Notice that RL put the apartments on the river not the lake so that the new owners will view the sometimes muddy river just like the Chatahoochee (I'm sure it's misspelled). Looks to me like an obvious attempt to save the lake.

P.S. If RL is not building them - they're sure marketing them.

Absolutely blows me away. Friends of ours from Atlanta bought on that little mudhole called Oconee. Paid exactly twice what we paid for our place on Martin. Went to their place this summer. Got a gorgeous view of a highway bridge and all the noise that goes with it. Wise up Atlantans, drive the extra hour. On second thought, I take that back. Please continue buying at the mudhole.

If you must generalize us Atlantan's(originally from Bammer) , please remember some us know the difference. Why do you think I bought on Martin vs. Lanier, Oconee and Altoona. Georigia does have some very nice lakes up north where you get the benefit of the lake and mountain experience. The downside is that they are priced at least twice that of Martin, the lakes are smaller and the lots are steeper.

I am from Atlanta to..... or is it ...too. Always got those 2 confused. We looked at almost all the Georgia lakes about 10 years ago and found that they all were double Lake Martin prices for crappy water. We used to always go to our friends place on Lake Lanier before we bought on Lake Martin. We have not been back since. Something about that 100 yard drop from their house to the water that finally got to me. Going down was not to bad but, coming back up, 12 beers later, was a real adventure. They have since been to our place, on Lake Martin, and cannot believe that when you walk out of my lower level, your basically wet. They are kind of jealous. Anywho, let's keep our little jewel a secret.

It's long gone. With the condo's will come the water park and the adventure island....then hotels and motels...... then lots of people with vacation bucks….then more condo's ....(and so on). Investors are already collaborating.

I’m considering kicking in some investment seed, but I’m glad I live on the west end.

So besides the North end and not on the West end, where do you think this burst of development might be?

They are going to build a 12 story condo in Stillwater. That could open up Stillwaters for more tall condos as they have their own sewer system rather than septic . But, no one has the right to be the last person to move to the lake.

It was reported in the local newspapers, this week, that StillWaters is limiting building heights to five stories.

Unfortunately anyone interested in boating around the Blue Creek/ Chimney Rock area will have a dim future, in my opinion. Two problems, overcrowding and ignorant boaters. Blue Creek is one of the few areas on the lake not owned by Alabama Power or Russell Lands, which means that individuals can develop property easier. That will lead to the overcrowding. APC owned 400 miles of shoreland, Russell owned 300 miles before any development started back in the '40s.

Get ready Blue Creek.

Some of you people sure are insecure about Atlanta people.....

That whole area will be great if you want action, and a nightmare if you want a peace and quiet.

It's not insecurity at all...Some of us can remember Atlanta before it was so screwed up--it was great. Don't want the same for this lake. Who screwed up Lakes Lanier, Oconee, and Altoona?

Right about Atlanta. I can remember having front table seating for concerts at Chastain as an individual until the corporations came in andstarted buying them up for clients. Then we were relegated to the regular seating and then if you want to go now, it's blanket time for us regular folks.

That's just one example.

Osms, your the one that`s screwed up, Atlanta is south of all those Lakes, so don`t blame it on Atlanta. West Point Yeah.

On Chastain. The part run by the symphony is just awful. I think there is a political agenda going there too.
