Can anybody point me in the right direction on navigation lights for WaveRunners to ride at night? I would not let anyone ride them at night including myself but being safety conscious I can see where they would come in handy if someone were caught with their pants down on the lake trying to get home after dark? (no pun intended)

I have heard that you can purchase such systems but cannot seem to locate any on the www. Are they legal in Alabama? I do not find any information that says they can/can't be used in the Alabama boating rules and regulations?

(I can't wait to see the scourging I take for asking this question)

In section 5, page 12 of the LMPBA (Lakemartin Powerboat Assoc.) manual dated 1/1/06, the regulations regaurding the operation of personal watercraft at night read as follows:
Operation of personal watercraft after sunset is prohibited on every day of the week, regaurdless of how many light kits are mounted on it. Personal watercraft must be operated Monday thru Sunday, during daylight hours and during the time of 6:00am and 10:30am daily. Under no circumstance can they be operated in anytime other than the above, and nighttime operation will result in fine and/or imprisonment of not less than 12 years maximum security. If the said operator is caught by a LMPBA member and is lucky enough to get a "dusk time" warning, they will be required to fill the fuel tank of the arresting LMPBA member.

Oh, yeah. The nightriders are permitted to wear the bow lights on their head and must strap the stern light to their butt with duct tape. Passengers are required to carry prayer beads.

I seriously hope that no one EVER has to ride at night...flag me down anytime, I'll be happy to give you a lift home.

I guess I'll give an answer for this one.

It IS legal to put navigation lights on a PWC and ride after sunset. Not smart.....but legal. It would be a better idea for the given situation (out later than expected) than what is usually done....trying to get home without any lights. I doubt anybody ever gets a warning for that one....I mean the sun goes down every day. It's not like you got caught off guard :)

As far as a light kit made specifically for PWCs. I don't know of one. I'm not sure any manufacturer would want to take on that kind of liability. The ones that I have seen had the normal aftermarket nav light kits rigged to the PWC.
