Earlier post you may have missed... Springers? I have bought many fine steaks & groceries at Springers. My first house was off Channing Dr - a block away. Are you related to the Tates of marble fame? Where did you go to school?

Ah I must have missed that post, but yes that was my grandfather and his twin brother at Springer Bros. Market. My grandfather lived over on Beaverbrook Drive, where he built his house. Sadly he recently passed away, and while going through his things my father and I found the receipts from when he built the house. If I recall correctly, I believe the house was built in the late 40's or early 50's, but the total cost(including the land) was $20,000. I couldn't believe it, how nice would it be to build a house these days for that little. Ok back to the point, I am also part of the Tate family of Tate, Ga. We have sold the marble company, so it is not called Tate Marble anymore it is currently Georgia Marble. However, we still own all the land they work on so it is nice to still be a part of that. It is not too often I run into people who have heard of Tate marble, just out of curiosity how did you hear about us? I am at Auburn University right now working hard and eagerly waiting to get out on the lake when it warms up.

I'm familiar with tha marble company because I have traveled the area some. I know of a connection with the Tates through a Therrell who is a contemporary of mine and we have a mutual friend. Maybe he's your uncle?

My good friend is married to Bill Nix, Grace Tate's first husband. They live in Atlanta. I know Bill's 2 children from his first marriage, Tate and Patrick. Know them? I guess they are your cousins, too?

I have met Bill and his wife once and it was about 3 months ago. They are both very nice people, and I enjoyed meeting them. I met so many people that night it is all almost one big blur. However, I think I met their son that night as well, and you can tell me if I am right about this or way off, but if I remember correctly I think he is a junior or senior in high school and possibly looking to come to Auburn.

Good memory. He might be a sophomore. They held him back one year in elementary, so I forget...he can drive though....I know he's 16...so I think he must be a Sophomore. Yes, I think Charlotte mentioned Auburn.
