What are some of your favorite sayings...Southern or not:

Since sex was brought up....who brought that up by the way? one of my favorite sayings is:

"All yack and no shack"

These sayings do NOT have to be sexual...as a matter of fact, let's sorta steer clear of any kind of too much information natured. Just light hearted.

I'll tell you one more (to get it out of the gutter): "Life is fair. It's hurts everybody."

Your turn:

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today; because if you enjoy doing it today you can always do it again tomorrow.

"Let's go Mud Ridin!"

"You're the peach and I'm the cobbler. We just go together"

Not sure if this one is southern but I was always told this when I was growing up - "It is better to be hated for who you are, then to be loved for who you are not."

No man ever went to his death bed saying, " I wish I had done for my job!"

"Shame on you for sticking it to me the first time,
Shame on me for allowing you to do it to me the second time,"

"over yonder"
"poor as a church mouse"

What's the answer????

When I wanted to do something my friends were doing and I begged, "Everyone's doing it!" , my mother would say, "Well, if everyone jumped off a bridge, would you? " of "If everyone stuck their hand in a fire, would you?"

You get the point.

Now, the real question is: ARE YOU SAYING THOSE VERY SAME THINGS TO YOUR CHILDREN?

This is really a more rural expression than anything else. In the country where there are few landmarks it was common when asked for dirrections to express it in the number of "sees" Two sees would be go as far as you can see then go as far as you can see again.

Wild - I have sent those kind of postcards out to friends while on vacation. Great one.

Ric - I have never heard that at all. Never would have guessed it. Did you grow up in the country? Over yonder in Rockdale County, it was pretty rural 'back in my day.'

Sure didn't but I have know a few "country" folks as friends. That one was tried on me years ago. Stumped me too....
