Hi to all. I finally joined up. I've been intending to for a while. I have enjoyed the Forum for quite a few years now (most of it anyway). My family has been on the lake since the early sixties. I have fond memories of those early years as a boy...before there were very many houses/cabins and not too much traffic on the lake. I still have the sounds of chain saws, circular saws and hammers in my memory as the vacant lots as far as the eye could see slowly became someone's paradise. This lake has always been my paradise and a part of my life and I hope it always will. Alabama is truely "Alabama the Beautiful"....and...just so you'll know....ROLL TIDE!!! This should identify me to my Auburn family members (we're about 50/50 and still love each other).

Nice to have you join us. Be careful of the guy who uses the name Maverick. He owns a rowboat and wants a big bad boat with a loud exhaust. Sometimes, he thinks he is the Forum Manager and we worry about his sanity. If you see him wandering around Dadeville, just say hi Mav and leave him be.

Joy, you know it's everyones initiation and rite of passage on this board to be bombarded sooner or later. Bama just might as well get it sooner. I think mine was 2 months and it came from out of the blue. How about you joy? How long did it take them to throw you in the deep end?

I'll pay my initiation dues. I enjoy the forum but I get the feeling that some are not from around here...or maby they just don't have enough to do. I would suggest gardening but I would wait a few more weeks before planting.

Thanks. I don't have anything against Big boats. I love to watch them crusing around. More power to all who can afford them. Do you think that if I got a hover craft it would stir anybody up? My Dad would use the AuburnBob alias...and yes I'm fond of the King of beers.

Yes, I was the Forum member who offered the constructive criticism. It was not my intent to hurt your feelings. Both of you have been great Forum members, and I enjoy both of your post.

BamaBob, you are O.K. in my book, even though you are a Bama fan. Anyone who partakes in the "King of Beers" is an ally, not an enemy. Except , of course, the week of the Iron Bowl.

Well lamont, I've given a case of bud to a good Auburn friend of mine for 4 years running. Maby I can drink his beer next year. It's never too early to talk football.

ROLL TIDE!!!

You seem pretty cool Bama , we need to meet up at Chucks or Niffers one night if your close to this side or Sinclaires on a sunday . Jaw makes it to Niffers and I know she lives on the other side of the world from me by land and water . Will be at Sinclairs Sunday at lunch if any body is interested in having a cocktail and a little something to eat.

You need to take some time to catch up with this board. When you'll do, you'll learn (as we all have) that those big boats are all owned by POOR people!!

(No, really, that's what they expect us to believe! That it's POOR people who are buying these six-figure gas guzzlers that depreciate more every day.)

And did you say you like to watch the big boats? Sorry, you're mistaken; we've also been informed that these big boats NEVER leave the wet slips, and if they do, they never get above idle speed.

So obviously, you've been spending your time at a different lake, because your post states things that-- according to many on this board-- just can't be true.

Are you denying anything I said? All I did was repeat statements that have been made on this forum. If you don't like what's happening... well, that's what happens when you have to make up lies to support your argument; eventually, you get caught in a lie.

Congratulations on the impending new arrival. I don't know what you do for a living, but you're months away from having a much more important job!

Thanks. Some will beg to differ (especially my wife when there's a Bama game on TV). It sounds like I'm way on the other side of the lake from you as well. I don't live at the lake either and have to work for a living so I don't get down as much as I would like. Maby I'll meet some of the forum people sometime. Excuse me whil I go catch up with the board.

I have actually been reading the board for quite a while. I defend anyone's right to own a big boat, little boat, fast boat, slow boat and pwc's. I've been 60 - 70 mph with only the prop in the water in a bass boat. It's not the boats...it's the drivers. Perhaps there are some who are not considerate. My family did not have the money to even own a boat for many years...by choice. It was not our priority then. If I wanted to spend my money on a big boat I could launch one next week and make the house payments on it for years. I am not rich...nor am I poor. I used to be really bothered by the PWC's...pesky little things. Someone gave us their used up SeaDo and I really enjoyed it. When they raised the requirement/age for a boat license it help a lot. As I read on another post, I had strict rules for my children about riding the SeaDo...and yes they all have their boat license. It is deseased now but I plan to buy me a pair soon.

As for the big boat traffic...the area that I am in obviously either doesn't have as many big boats and the drivers of the ones that come by are very considerate. So are the airplanes considerate that take off and land in our area. I like watching them too. I don't like people who litter and throw beer bottles, trash and cans in the lake...that's what bothers me.
