Over the past several weeks the canadian geese have started nesting and laying their eggs. Being new to the lake (since last august) I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to the following question:

How many geese nest on islands that are exposed due to the low water level and then get flodded out as the water rises?

Any of you full timers ever see this happen?

I am new too. (A sharp observer would probably figure this out from my alias.) However, I digress......I think the answer to your question is NOT MANY. I base this on the large number of geese messing up our beautiful shoreline. Those things are mean too!!!

The Canadian geese on Lake Martin are from the Province of Quebec and do not understand English. They are really lost if you have a Southern accent. They do, however, understand French. If you ask them to leave in French but without a Southern accent, you will be surprised how they mind. I speak from experience.

A couple nesting nearby seem very smart about the water levels. They have chosen a spot for three years in a row that is near but not below the
490' elevation....now if humans could take a hint and be smart about where they nest!

I don't mind the ducks but I wish the geese would go back to anywhere. How do you shoo off a gagle of geese!

I have used small fake alligators on my sea wall. Seems to keep the geese away.

They should be able to nest anywhere they want. Its only the irresponsible geese who mess up the shore line and give others a bad name. I like geese and it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks they should be able to stay anywhere they want. Its only the big money types who want the poor geese to leave thier shoreline alone.
