The one that was kind and considerate. The one where we didn't talk politics. The one where we encouraged each other instead of picking on each other. The one that didn't point fingers. The one when we did joke about ourselves or others (like JIM - your sweetie pie, you) it was never mean spirited. The one where we would all want to meet and party instead of type on this forum and argue. The one where when we posted, we didn't always have to be right, and when it was pointed out that we weren't, we weren't made to feel belittled.

I just want my kind old forum back. I'll be waiting.....

I agree with you JAWS; the kinder forum is better. You haven't been around long enough to see much of this bickering, but these debates pop up now and then and the lurkers come out in mass.

I guess I should keep my mouth shut when they do, but I can't help myself when people make twisted arguments that don't follow a reasonable path. I can except ones passion and beliefs if they argue with reason and can be logical.....If anything I have said offended you, I'm sorry.

I'm all for changing to new subjects......get it started!

is totally dead. I have no dog in this hunt , however I do find the name -calling quite disturbing. Can we please move on. Lake is up, heat is about to move in, it's time to party!

I miss the wit that came from most of the post here,.... what happened?
Everyone loose their sense of humor?
It seems like if someone TRIES to change the subject line, there is always someone else who jumps back in with the same ole same ole.
The lake IS up,... it's a bit cold,.... but maybe if everyone would get out there in their boats (WHATEVER the size), this cold wind would work like a cold shower for some!

it's not your forum; it's everybody's forum-- yours, mine, ours, theirs. And though there are some who prefer the calmer, gentler forum, there are others who have the right to roil the waters, to make waves, to cause trouble for those who do not agree with them.

Those who don't like the way things are now can either get on board, deal with it, or move along. There is the way things were, and there is the way things are, and if you don't like the way things are, tough; if you don't want to be loud and obnoxious and make waves and cause trouble and diminish the pleasure of innocent bystanders, then you had best be moving along.

Wait... am I talking about posting, or am I talking about boats? And if you don't like the "whiners" who complain about dealing with big boats, do you have any room whatsoever to complain about this post? Because the things I'm saying in this post are eerily similar to the things the big-boaters are saying to the rest of us.

Looks like your gonna have to wait a little while longer JAW. Some just want to keep up the mess.

Yeah it's sad that some can't leave things well enough alone.
Like my grandmother would say
"Some just want to sitr the pot, when it really should just rest".

I agree, I'm new too the lake having visited in Feb., and then I wanted to simply jump into the lake.. Dumb-me, I guess if I paid attention to what is important, lake levels, then I would have known that I would have got stuck in the mud.. Well folks, springs here, or at least in Alabama and I miss the lake here in the ohio valley. But with reestablished ties and good times that are sure to be found at the lake I'll be down this summer. Map "Old Map" or no map, waiting for my map from Alabama Power, but that's not stopping me. It's me. And as Arnold says... I'll be back.. Now if it would only turn sunny and warm.. As for the problem, I imagine Alabama's sun shinning will find all with a better overall disposition and perhaps it'll make for some heated summer nights conversation and dialog here at lakemartin.org. Dot whatever.. Peace, enjoy the paradise many desire, Lake Martin has it and others talk best because they're jealous. Just a notion, I don't want to make waves. Just aquaintances and friends. I'm still waiting for the map Alabama Power web link promised.. Enough for now. Geno

I KNEW I would get this post after mine:

it's not your forum; it's everybody's forum-- yours, mine, ours, theirs. And though there are some who prefer the calmer, gentler forum, there are others who have the right to roil the waters, to make waves, to cause trouble for those who do not agree with them.

Those who don't like the way things are now can either get on board, deal with it, or move along. My post wasn't meant to be literal...."MY FORUM" - and surely a compassionate person would have realized this.

What it WAS meant as was a kinder, gentler forum. I almost added to my first post that I was expecting to be berated. Well, now we know WHO wants to keep the pot stirring. It is obvious who likes to be argumentative and who doesn't. I will steer clear from now on those posters who aren't on the same wavelength as me. You are entitled. But why get so worked up over a post...what will it matter in a week? a month? a year? If you CHOOSE to have your argumentative viewpoints, go for it . I can CHOOSE to ignore them as well. My post was meant to rally the good-natured souls on this board. You have made your side clear.
