Is anyone old enough to remember Camp Talisi? It was an old Boy Scout camp. The reason I'm looking is my grandparents had a cabin right across the bay from it and I'm trying to locate that cabin.....

From Rte 229 (Between 63 & Castaway Island Road), turn North on McCain Road, go about 500ft and turn right on Camp Talisi Road. That will take you on to the old Boy Scout Camp property - they have recently developed some condos there, so it won't look the same. The cove you are probably talking about can be seen if you just contimue down McCain Road and look off to the right to see the cove next to the old camp.

Hope this helps! Good luck.

Thank you so much for the directions...........when I look at the maps on this webpage...which map is it on...Tallapoosa Creek, Kowaliga Bay or Big Kowaliga? The road to our cabin was right before the road to Camp Talisi..............Gee I hope it is still there.........i'm interested in purchasing it if the owners want to sell.....My grandfather, Pete Land, my father, Julian Richardson, my uncle, Charles Bowen, and my brothers built the cabin back in the late 50's.....it was still there in 1975.....I have grandchildren that I want to have the same memories of Lake Martin as I do.....any information is welcome....

from looking at the map....it looks like the road is called Land's End......is this still a private cabin with water surrounding it...or has it been torn down for condos? it was a very large plat of land....pretty flat...water wall built on the left side........sloping to the water on the other side.......

I knew "of Amy Bowen" but did not know her personally. At least the one that I knew drove a Jeep. This was in the 60's before they became popular

I'll be around the area this weekend. If I know which cabin to look for, I'll carry my digital camera and post the picture for you. Amy was about 4 years my senior but I remember the Jeep. I think that she might have been a cheerleader also. But that is all that I can dislodge from my cluttered mind. Randy Plant and I were the same age and graduated from THS in 72. Stanley Plant JR was about 4 years older. At Mr. Plants Drug Store was the best soda fountains in Tallassee. I spent one weekend at their cabin in 1962 or 1963. But I do not even rememberwhich cabin was theirs, just that it was in the same area as Camp Talasi. Are also from Tallassee? What Year?

The cabin faced the Plants cabin......it was pale green way back then...if it is still there, it might be bright red by now....it had a screened-in porch all across the end that faced the main part of the lake......had a flagstone fireplace on one end and a large flagstone patio..facing the Plants. There was a boathouse on a hill...we had one of the first electric wenches to pull the boat in...the peninsula was quite large...could have had 20 or more cabins on it....probably does now.....I am from Tennessee, but spent the Summers on the lake...sure do have fond memories..........we must be around the same age...I graduated from hs in 1970...thank for your help
