Has anyone heard of Frankie's? Well, this is a new "eatery" by the Alex City bridge. Friends coming from the other side of the lake to visit wanted to know if there was a place to eat lunch. I told them about Frankie's, saying I have not tried it myself, but see the sign all the time crossing over the bridge. Encouraged them to check it out! They got there and were told there was/is a $15 membership fee. "There are certain guidelines concerning condos and places to eat on the same development." These people wanted a burger and fries! Has anyone ever heard of a fee like this for people who do not live at the condo, but are hungry on the lake? My guess is there is NOT a real chef on site and food is par. Just a guess, but why would anyone promote this?

I suspect the membership fee is to keep the riff raff from the Forum out of the restaurant. After they realize people are not going to buy memberships, they will open it up to the riff raff.

I also thought I read that free membership for the restaurant for the North Cove condo owners; the fee for everyone else on the lake.

It could be that they got a 'private club' liquor license in order to serve alcohol on Sundays. If that's the case, everybodyserved is technically supposed to be a member, but charging a $15 fee for that is unheard of.

Ate at Frankie's On the Water last weekend. They let us "try" the place that time without joining, but said future visits would require a membership because they sell alcohol on Sundays. But the membership fee was $50 per year for non-owners, not $15. Menu had pizza, burgers, sandwiches, etc. The food was good; the burgers were big.

Sure looks like the developers pulled a real fast one on the condo owners. Can you imagine paying $300K for a condo and finding out that you are living next to a beer joint? Sure, come on in ...for $15 you can be a member....Maybe this was disclosed but I would like to hear from one of the owners..... Can't believe Russell has their name on this one.....

I think I saw the info about the fee in a newsletter from Michael Langston. You know how he sends out those real estate newsletters to folks.

Went there about two weeks ago and had the grouper sandwich, very good and the place was very nice. No one mentioned a fee but then again I was with the Miller Lite Rep. along with a few more people. They need to dig out a little more around there wall, had to make the women get out and push us off the mud.LOL

They have to raise money to pay for some of those flooded out units from the rains they had a while back. Ditching and backfilling and fixing those buggy little drainage problems can be expensive!

We stopped there a couple weeks ago and were allowed to have a drink and enjoy the music without being a member. Were told memberships are $50 per person and you can only bring guests three times. Beer was $2, but mixed drinks were first quoted at $5!! We negotiated down to $4, but the drink was only fair. It would be nice to have a place to get to by boat or car between Alex City and Dadeville, but probably it is not to be - unless they don't sell enough memberships and then open it to the public.

Funny. I have never heard of anyone negotiating the price of a drink before. You are a shrewd character. How did you go about the negoitaions?

After I ordered the drink and asked the price and was told $5, I told the waitress I only pay $3 down the road and even $4 would be more in line. Did the trick!
