Noticed your posts yesterday. Two thoughts. How can a supposedly educated person be so stupid and ignorant. Stupid for the rantings she is so well known for, and ignorant of fact that she is so stupid. Yea, voters!

As for the Federal Gov stepping up the pressure in public schools, I can only point to the New Orleans School System and all those like it is the reason something had to be done on a national level. In 2004, one of the schools' valedictorians took the state required exit exams five (5) times and never passed it, yet she had a B+ average. That's what local control gets you in some areas. Holding the teacher responsible for teaching is a new concept - if now the gov can just stop our "educational system" from rewriting history books to suit its social agenda our kids may get an education instead of an indoctrination.

I understand what you are saying. I don't know what the answer is..but sure isn't those so far away understanding all the individual schools systems' needs...it's not one size fits all.

That's why I still have my hands in it and personalize each child, each teacher, each school...because they differ, of course. I am proud to be a sycophant at times.

Unfortunately we have many students and ex-students that have lived through 40 years of education by the "lowest common denominator" that has dumbed down the American people "educated" in the public education system. Any effort to correct these past failures will of course be looked upon by the perputrator (NEA) as a terrible decision made by the higher authority (Bush).

In my opinion, any change that makes the NEA mad has to be a GOOD DECISION.

Most people know the problems in schools, but it is not politically correct to say them. A lot or teachers a intimated by students these days. Back when I was in school if you did not tow the line ,got a can of whoop a$$, then when you got home got another can. Disipline starts at home, apparently not these days.

Boy, you hit the nail on the head! I see kids everyday who know their teachers are hog-tied, because, not only will they NOT get in trouble at home if they get in trouble at school, the parents will come in for a conference to see why the teacher DARED to discipline their little darlings. Those kids disrupt the class and make teaching even more of a challenge. I went to a Catholic school (as do my kids). There was corporal punishment- doled out sparingly, as well as a demerit system, which could result in expulsion. Once, the school found out my brother had lied to my parents at home and gave him demerits for not Honoring his Father and Mother...ah, the good old days and I mean OLD.

My wife is a retired teacher. The way it is now, if the kid complains to his mother, the mother will take up for the kid and complain to the principal, and if the principal supports the teacher the mother will go to the school superintendent who more often than not, will do what is necessary to mollify the mother. So principals don't back their teachers.

And guess what. Any teacher that can quit, does quit.

McKinney is an evil person. Race has nothing to do with it. Ever look at her eyes when she is speaking? Only darkness......

McKinney is everything you say and think and worse. She runs dirty, racist campagins and is an embarrasment to most of the state of Georgia. The guy that beat her could be an oak tree and that would be an extreme improvement over McKinney. I wish him luck and thank him for running.

Everyone has the target true on this subject...had the "pleasure" of dealing with her father-Billy McKinney, who was a state representative in the late '80's- she got it all very honest.
