It was a Comair flight, not Delta; although comair is a subsidiary of Delta. It's a very sad thing to happen and I'll reserve judgment at this time......... but I am greatly concerned with the fact ALL Airlines are accelerating the use of inexperienced crews in smaller jets in many markets.

….I hit the enter button before I was done.

My heart goes out to all of the families affected by this accident.

My comments about inexperience have to do with the proliferation of commuter airlines that use low wage pilots trying to break into a flying career. These pilots have all appropriate licenses and FAA qualifications, but have low experience when compared to pilots at major air carriers such a United, Delta, American, Northwest, etc. They are usually willing to fly poor schedules at low wages in order to gain experience that may lead to a job for a major airline (that until recent history hired mostly pilots with military experience). Over the last several years, Airlines have become good at marketing commuter flights under their national logo, which makes it hard for a consumer to know exactly what they are purchasing. It seems everyone shops for a cheap ticket rather than looking at all of the variables. I personally do not allow my family to travel on commuter carriers and I recommend against doing so to my friends.

Yea, I've been on them before and I was never as comfortable on the small planes. I grew up as a Delta brat and have flown quite a bit. I've been on flights with mechanical problems, in extreme weather and even a flight that the FBI stormed in Dallas because of a couple of maniacs with turbans chanting up and down the isles about dying. That flight scared me. It was very sad news reguardless...but was releived to hear it wasn't terrorist related.

I'm driving to Orlando in a few weeks and passing on the flight. Just feel like keeping my feet on the ground.
