Our family found a black and white long haired young cat with a bushy tail on Sunday, 9/3/06. She was wandering in the woods on our property in Parker's Creek off ByWater Road. We think she is a female, 5 to 12 months old. She is NOT de-clawed. She was not wearing a collar, but was fairly clean and looked cared for. She is very calm and sweet, so we believe she belongs to someone in the area. We live in Birmingham and had to return home Monday. We didn't want to abandon her, as she was thin and hungry, so we brought her home to Birmingham, where she is currently staying with my mother-in-law. I have emailed her photos to the Alex City Humane Society if you need to see the pictures. If you have lost this young cat, please contact my mother-in-law, Ann, at 205-491-1831 (h) or 205-305-2611 (c) as soon as possible. We will be back in the Alex City area on September 16th and will be happy to return the cat to you then.

She found my 9 year old son who was canoeing close to the shore. She came out of the woods meowing and he "rescued" her. We left her outside all night, hoping she would go home, but she didn't. He is very tenderhearted and there was no way we could just abandon her to the snakes or starvation. It was Labor Day, so we decided to bring her home and I have been on the phone with Alex City vets and the Humane Society, as well as emailing her photos to everyone who might know anyone who lives in the area. We have a new dog and an old cat and we cannot keep her. Luckily, my mother-in-law is cat sitting for us, but I don't know if she really wants her long term. I hope we can find her owners.

I would do the same thing. If you can't find the owner, perhaps someone on this forum will adopt the kitty. Are you reading this JIM?
