I just passed a Dadeville Intergalactic World Gazette (Record) newspaper stand and the headlines read something to the effect that an APCo spokesman told a local Rotary (or some club) that they may be adjusting the lake levels for winter sometime in the future. Didn't have time or money to get the paper at the time, but does anyone know what the spokesman said?

Has anyone noticed that at the time of this release, Martin was down 3.4 feet and Harris (above us) down 5.2 feet. The numbers released in today’s Birmingham News show Martin down 4.64 feet (down another 1.2 feet), but Harris only down 3.72 feet (a rise of 1.5 feet). Could this have anything to do with the fact the Alabama Power is marketing some expensive lots and subdivisions on Lake Harris? My brother has a place on Harris and they are organizing to notify potential buyers about the lack of water much of the year. They may have gotten Ala. Power’s attention. And guess what lake below Harris is paying the price.

Maybe my post was not clear. The headlines had nothing to do about the drought, but they mentioned the winter levels possibly be changed as part of their re-licensing application in about 4 years. Any more info.

Here is a post I made back on 8/27 entitled Shorelines Newsletter.

Just recieved my AL Power Shoreline news letter, and there is an article entitled "Hydro Relicensing Begins at LM" - page 5

And the article states among other things "We will solicit residents input on issues and concerns, the we will schedule specific meetings to address issues identified. Residents will participate in study teams to evaluate a wide array of issues such as winter pool levels, water quality, fish habitats, recreation and shoreline management"

Residents meetings to be held in November and January.

Thanks, I remember the above post, but I didn't remember that "winter pool" was mentioned as a topic for re-licensing discussions. Now it's hit the newspapers.
