My Mother made it through her open heart surgery just fine. Dr. Kirkland and his Team at the UAB Hospital performed another life saving miracle. She had one heart valve replaced and another repaired. She is 80 years old. Dr. Kirkland says she is recovering better than most 40 year men he has helped.

I was down for the surgery, and I have to say the Lake provided me with a lot of solitude during the troubling period. I spent my time running back an forth to Birmingham and loooking out upon the Lake in the late evenings.

My heart goes out to Geno in his loss of his Father, and my blessing are only matched by those of Pier Pressure and Alscn in the recovery of their Father.

I am also thinking of JIM in his troubled times.

I hope she is doing great! Those doctors at UAB are amayzing! I'm sure she was in great hands!

And Tony I hope your dad's recovery is still going well!

And Feb you are so right! Lake Martin on a quite day or night (especially in the winter) is the best place in the world to think. I've driven down from B'ham more than once just to spend a day or two thinking. I can't imagine a better place for it!

Feb, is the house coming along as planned? I'm living in Auburn now if you need me to "check up" on your contractors...

That is great news. I am very proud of UAB Hospital having been an employee for 25 years. We have some of the finest doctors in the world and the OR Suites are among the best in the world...state of the art. I work just accross the street. Look me up if you are here @ UAB.(internal phone # 41199)
