I saw some of this tournament on ESPN 2 last night. There was an add for Mercury motors stating their 225 HP would outrun Yamaha and someone else. It showed the bass boat with Merc attached at 92 + MPH and the others at only about 85 MPH.

No wonder they catch so many fish. They wash them up on the shore, and then attach the fish to their hooks.

I am not condoning his actions, nor attempting to make an honest comparrison of the two items, but have you ever stopped and thought about how close you are to death every time you are driving on a two lane highway? Two very heavy cars traveling in opposite directions 60mph + with less than 3 feet seperation.... Which we can readily accept because we all do it daily....

Bass fishing is his living and he was trying to get to his office. Try to imagine how your day would be if you had 50 spectators crowded in your office while you were trying to get to your desk. How would the Daytona race go if the spectators were allowed on the track. There are many ways to look at things. What he did was unsafe but the spectators and the camara crew were on his playing field.

Everyone has a safe summer on the water. One accident is too many.
