I recorded over 1" of rain at my place on Sunday and Monday. However, the Lake has risen only about 3 inches over past 5 days. It's not gone up at all the past 3 days. I know the rain in north of the lake is important, but you'd think we would get more of a bump from the rain over the weekend.

The lake rising a couple inches per week even without rain. The rains just did not seem to make much of a dent at all.

Although there are some on here who seem to think the rainfall is the ONLY variable determining the lake level, it definitely is not. I have seen the lake rise at a fast rate with little or no rainfall, and I have seen it remain fairly stable with heavy rainfall. The level is determined largely by what APCO does with controlling the flow and generating power. The best hope is that the cooler weather will moderate demand for electricity and maybe they will allow more accumulation in our reservoir.

It's not just generating electricity that determines the amount of water released from the lake. The Corps of Engineers requires certain flows downstream, Since the flow is measured in the Alabama River, the release required from Lake Martin is affected by the amount of water flowing down the Coosa River, too.
