I am purchasing a boat from my stepfather in TN. I love the boat (Regal Velocity) and he is giving me a great deal. However the boat is slightly noisy at 4500 rpm and greater. Now at those rpm's this boat is moving...so rarely will I be traveling at those speeds (I am a father of small children). It is muffled below water.

My question is what authority can I get to test the noise from the boat so I know that I am not a nuisance to others and I don't get a citation?

If it is muffled underwater, I wouldn't worry about it.

That's it...of course owning a Regal made Velocity is not as prestigous as an original...I will still be very proud of mine. It needs some interior upholstery work and wood work that I look forwarding to doing or getting done....and then one day a new gel coat...but for now the boat runs great.

BTW...this is my first boat.

I remember the excitement of my first boat....it was a piece of crap (a l6 foot 60's vintage powder blue tri-hull), but I was very happy to have it.

I'm sure you will enjoy making memories with your family!!
