of wind. Interesting that the trees were left standing but the limbs were broken off. Read an article yesterday that 88% of the trees on the MS coast were destroyed or heavily damaged--many dieing after nearly 2 years. You can replace a house in a short time, but places like Greenburg will take a generation to get their trees back.

The main cause of loss of trees in a hurricane vs a tornado is that the hurricane has tropical storm rain prior to the wind picking up. The root systems get saturated with water, and the ground gets soft letting the wind just push the trees over...

Bad losses regardless of cause. At least with a hurricane you have ample warning of its approach...

You are right about the rain, but I've learned that hardwood trees on the coast (in sand) do not develop any roots deeper than the surface roots; therefore, they're easy to tip over. BTW, during Ivan I lost two trees on the coast, but 5 at the lake. Katrina got all but one on the coast, including two 89 year old pines (counted the rings!)

Saw a cruiser named Pier Pressure at Stillwaters last Sat--was that you?

OSMS:

Did the cruiser have some scumbag looking guy on it and a very nice looking young lady?

If so that was ALSCN, foget about PP.

LOL - Sorry PP could not resist.

Got your Email PP, sounds like you guys had a blast cruising the lake last weekend. Wish I would have been down there would have refilled your beer cooler.

Actually it was a nice looking late model cruiser w/o the scum bag or cutie. Didn't see anyone around the boat, but celebrity hound that I am, I just had to ask. Couldn't miss all the TV crews hanging around the marina.

Mav, you are so sweet.

We did have a wonderful time. Can't say we were at Stillwaters, but we did go to Chuck's on sunday so OSMS might have seen us there.

We went up by your place, it is beautiful. Too bad you weren't around to visit with, it has been a long time.

Party Naked has reported to me that he sighted another Pier Pressure on the lake... While I feel our PP is very nice, its 10 yrs old now. There is a pic of PP in the classified section...

Our trip up North was great. Couldn't find a steak on the water, but beggers can't be choosers. Lake Hill restaurant's dock did not appear accessible by water (at least by us). We had Frankies instead. Nice place for quick food just not "dinner" menu I was looking for...

The PP I saw was not a Sea Ray and was about 28 - 32' long. It was docked at the Ship Store at Harbor Point. Didn't think it was yours, but at least you were out last weekend.
