I don't know how many of you have seen this, but Alabama Power Co has requested to reduce the flow from Martin Dam by 10% in order to not lose (potentially) a total of 14 feet by August. They made the request to the US Army Corps of Engineers, who are considering the request.

The Corps has opened this up to PUBLIC COMMENT. We can email / fax / mail / call with our support or non-support on this one.

Bottom line - we have a chance to have input. I suggest we take it. Personally, I am emailing to support the reduction. I don't think it will save the lake level this year but maybe it will reduce the pain.

PLEASE SEE MY LINK BELOW FOR ALL OF THE CONTACT INFO AND THE LINK TO THE ORIGINAL PUBLIC NOTICE.

DEADLINE: 10 calendar days from May 31.

Here's our chance to have a Voice!

Thanks,

John C

Here is what page 3 states - If the proposed reductions are not
implemented, APC has indicated that the Coosa River projects would be drawn down to their winter levels and Lake Martin is projected to be 14 feet below the rule curve by early August.

I have tried twice to send an email to the address listed on this announcement, but it keeps getting kicked back. Has anyone else had that problem?

Mav,

I sent an email to the corps - want to copy APCO but I find no email addresses on their Lake Martin page. You happen to have Willard's email address?

Quick Google Search and here it is, have not tried it. If it does not work let me know and I will try another search.
