It might be a good service for those who trailer to the lake if we could let everyone know which ramps are best for low water and when does each become unusable. How about it--

I for one am wondering how low to let the water go before I pull out my boat. I have somewhat deep water, but much below winter pool and it becomes "iffy". If I wait until 478, which is about where I run out of water, it may be too late to use any ramp. (?).

Someone told me today that APCO is planning on dropping to 474 if we do not get sufficient rain. I do not know how accurate their info is but it is something to think about. I never dreamed that I would pray for a tropical system but we need rain bad!!! Not just for the water level but I am starting to worry about the animals. Ironically, News at 5:00 on WSFA is talking about fish dying at Wynlakes in Montgomery.

We use the public ramp at the Kowaliga Bridge on Hwy 63 year around, nice ramp and parking is not to bad either. We went out Saturday, it was beautiful, lots of boats out too, and as someone else said, lots of beach areas to play on, we had a blast and will continue to all summer long.
Happy and Safe Boat riding to all!!!

APCO's Union Boat Ramp should be good throughout the year. It is on Blue Creek very near to Curry's Point. By road it is off of Hwy 50W on Centerport Road. I believe that the ramp at the Kowaliga Bridge on Hwy 63 should be good too for a long while.

When it gets to that point you don't need to be out there running unless a small fishing boat.

You sure don't need to go up in a slough your not familiar with.

Did APCo place the concrete paving strips on all of their ramps like they have on the Smith's Landing below the 480 level. Paving below the 480' level is going to be the key to getting in or out.

In APCO's response to the Corp of Engineers' request for public comments dated June 11, 2007, APCO noted that it cannot draw Lake Martin below 478.5 because Alex City's water intake cannot operate below that level. I guess that at least let's us know what the "bottom" is.

Trouble is, the lake isn't this low because APCO drew it down; it's low because of a combination of several factors, many of which are out of APCO's hands. (Those include drought and evaporation.)

If Alex City really needs the lake to stay above 478.5 (and I have seen it lower, so that must be a new intake pipe) then I would say that the residents up on Harris Lake need to start preparing ; they're going to lose a lot of water soon.

Kowaliga is good through out the year.

I put in at Anchor Bay this past weekend.. and the ramp seems to be leveling off at current water level. Was a bit shallow for me...

I'll be using Kowaliga from here on out I reckon.

D.A.R.E. park in Dadeville is good at the 480' level. I used to launch a good size 23' center console in the winter.

at the marinas begin to be a problem due to low water? Those sail boats have a long keel (think that's what its called) that will be sitting on the bottom. 474 is 16 feet below fool pool. Wonder if the marinas were constructed with this possibly in mind.

Heavy rain in Auburn off and on for several hours, thank goodness.
