I'm considering changing my service provider. Currently have T-Mobile & never have had good service @ LM. Does anyone have Cingular/ATT? How's their service on and around the lake? Anyone else have good experience w/ other carriers? TIA

Cingular good at Real Island, poor as you go up Little Kowaliga. Good at Kowaligia bridge. Don't know about other areas.

We pay $5 each month, per phone for unlimited roaming. Since we have unlimited nights and weekends we can roam all weekend with no extra cost. So, I have a signal (from someone) pretty much every where I go.... Our carrier is Sprint and their signal at the Lake is come and go... I put my phone on "Roam only" as I leave Wetumpka...

I have found talking to different people on the lake that either Alltel (which I have and it works very well on the lake) and Verison are the two best services for this area. There may be others.

Verizon works well all around the lake - a few crazy spots but ....you are in the country

Good luck

I have T-Mobile and it works great for me all over the lake. Could it be the phone?

I have Cingular (AT&T) and I am near Chuck's Marina. I have to drive to Hwy 50 to get a signal. It will ring in my purse at the house, but will not let me talk. I want to change to another company. Does anyone in that area get good service with Alltel or Verizon? I have a good ( expensive?) phone so my equipment shouldn't be the problem.

I'm near Chuck's and have just switched to t-mobile. So far a lot better signal than I had with Nextel. Cheap phone and I can even use it inside the house.

I have Cingular/AT&T on Sandy Creek. For years it was very good but over the past 9 months, the reception has a good bit.

As I said earlier in this thread I have Alltel and it works very well all over the lake. The only issue you might have is if you have a phone like the Motorola Razr which only receives a digital signal. You do want a phone that receives both digital and analog.

Chucks, off Centerport. And like you, my AT&T/Cingular loses its signal as soon as I turn off Hwy 50 (with scattered service down Centerport, Company Street, etc.). Also like you, my phone will ring down on Harrison Road, but I the caller can't hear me answer. My daughter and her husband had Verizon, then T-Mobile, and they were no better in our area. There was a 'cell phone' thread a few months back and someone said we need a tri-band phone: digital, analog and something else that I don't remember. We have a land line in the house (in case we need 911) for less than $20/month, so that's what we use when we're there. I'm going to look at the I-phone when it comes out this summer. If that can't get the signal, nothing can!
