Watch the APCO supporters come out in droves with GTH responses to this post:

Sure we are in a very sever drought, but fact is that the lake should not be down more then three to four feet right now. If APCO would adjust their 1920's water flow charts on a regular basis....did the drought start in March when the plug was put in, mercy no. Could and should have APCO known that their water charts for 2006-2007 needed adjusting way back in October, November....absolutely. Wake up folks. APCO doesn't give a rats you know what, what the lake level is. They would actually have to do some work to watch and maitain water flows with actual water conditions rather than depending on the same charts that they have been using for years and years!

What I can't figure out is why some of the lakes in the north part of the state --TVA lakes -- are only about 1 to 1.5 ft below their full pools. And keep in mind this is under the worst area (exceptional) of the current drought map.

If you recall we were starting to have water issues last summer around mid-July. I feel we need a smaller winter drawdown and perhaps earlier proactive decision making. For instance, why couldn't APCO petition FERC to move up the licensing, why do we have to wait until 2013 to make changes? Have they even approached FERC with that option?!

Maybe APCO has done this but I feel we are not getting the whole story.

WOW! someone else who ask really good questions on here. Way to go! Most people just take the APCO word as that is the way it is by God!

You can't do it alone. Join the Lake Martin Home Owners and Boat Owners Association. Go to www.lakemartin.org for info and application form. We've got to join together to correct this problem.

Our membership has increased by 80 just this week.

....almost. APCO doesn't care what the lake level is as it relates to YOUR recreation.

Since Hydro is the CHEAPEST form of generating elcetricity I am certain that APCO sent our water downstream rather than hold it here where they could actually use it to make MONEY.

A question for all you ignorant whiners. Have ANY of you ever talked with ANYBODY at APCO about HOW they determine when and where to release water? Of course not, it is easy to sit in your living room and second guess what they are doing. It is a little more difficult to actually do a little research and and discover just how good they are at managing the water resources of the state and region.

I bet EVERY ONE of you know how to have a undeafeted football season at the U of A every year too.

I guess LTL thinks that the TVA just likes to keep their lakes full because they are prettier that way!

Compare the watersheds of the two river SYSTEMS. I think you just might find the TVA has a little more water to work with and less of their watershed in extreme drought. But by all means, don't let FACTS get in the way of a good APCO bashing.

... you guys are the ones that must be miserable. On here every day with a new reason why our water should not be so low. Whining and complaining and threatening lawsuits, forming groups. having meetings and only God knows how much time in emails and phone calls to fight a loosing battle.

Me. I am enjoying what lake we have, and not b*tching about what we don't.

LTL -- you need to spell your pontifications correctly.

Anyway, I'm not sure why you got off on that tangent but my point was that I would like APCO to be more forthcoming with info.

That was it. No more no less.

Have a great weekend!

I forgot to spellcheck that one. I was multitasking at the time. As for APCO and info, they will give you any info that you want if you pursue it through proper channels. But you have to understand that they are not going to drop everything and cater to every homeowner that calls upset because they don't have water at their Pier. They really couldn't care less. They are busy trying to figure out how to keep costs under control due to less hydro generation.

Recreation and happy homeowners are at the BOTTOM of their lists. Most of the APCO's exec's have a place on one lake or another so they are feeling the drought too. Not to mention on the bottom line. Coal is much more expensive than hydro, and APCO is burning a LOT of it this year.

Your multitasking is sucking on a hotdog and picking your nose at the same time.

I'm new to the Lake martin Forums. There is a lot of interesting and useful information. The personal attacks get old. Usually happens when you don't have anything intelligent to say.
