Where could one find the regulations for adding a floating pier? Interested in the total length allowable from the sea wall and what the power company's rules are as far as type of construction materials.

I saw a car with a sign on it "Alabama Power Shoreline Managament" recently. Didnt look like official APCo car, had one of those magnetic signs on door. I assume this is the inspector for APCo.

Yes, there is a local gentlemen they contract with to do this I believe. He does not work directly for Alabama Power. Very nice gentleman.

http://www.alabamapower.com/

I got the information I quoted earlier from this website, just follow the links on Lake info in the bottom right and the info was on the "Shoreline Newsletter on the left side of the page.

you can also get a lake level update every 2 hours from that website.

You have to get a permit through Ala Power. I just got one, and they had to come out and see what you were wanting to do. They will need some kind of sketch of it. John Ledbetter is the shoreline mtg. (205)257-1000. As far as how much you can add depends on the amount of water front you have and the location of your place. Hope this helps
