We have a 31' Cruiser that we keep on the lake during the summer and take periodic trips to the beach during fall/sping. Concerned that if we don't take it out soon, we'll be unable to get it out on any of the ramps and we'll have to leave it in the lake till next spring (when hopefully the water will be RISING!) Any recommendations from experienced cruisers on how much longer we can leave it in Lake Martin and the best ramp to use when we do take it out??

Your boat is illegal to use in Lake Martin. If you wish to continue using it, show your appreciation by supporting the Plaintiffs of the lawsuit who are trying to get the law overturned. IF you are curious as "how to" accomplish this, reply to this post and I will have them email you the contact information.

We were "grandfathered" in. It was on the lake prior to the new law along with a few hundred other cruisers much larger than mine!

So, this means you dont support those who were not grandfathered in? You plan on keeping that boat forever?

I believe the law says if you take your boat from the lake it is no longer grandfathered in. I may be very wrong, but seems I read that.

Man, I have read that thing a hundred times. I have gotten many different opinions of what is right and wrong, and what you can and can't do. I wish I could remove my reply above. This is one topic I will try to avoid.

Could we get back to my original question please? Let's suppose I want to take it out and never bring it back. How much longer do I get to enjoy Lake Martin before it is moored till 2008 and which ramp is the longest with the deepest water right now?

Ok, does taking it out for repair or servicing count?

Great Question and I don't know the answer to your question yet maybe this will help.

What part of the lake are you located on??? Found out today that APCO is dropping the lake to winter pool by early August. Union boat ramp is still good right now. It is on the lake close to the old Bama Park area. I would not wait much longer. We took our boat (29 foot Scarab) out this weekend there. Starting to get kind of iffy . You will need about three people to help so they can watch all sides. Rhonda

Call the Wind Creel Sate Park campground and ask about their ramp.

Actually, absent any real rain, the target is -14' by August 1, 2007. That's about 4' below normal winter pool and a whole different ball game for many of us.

I think that the Kowaliga ramp is probably the deepest.

I could dive them all to find an exact answer, but it is not in my interest. Just as supporting those who oppose this law is not in most peoples "interest" (just their decendants).

I will back out of this topic now. Ignoring it doesn't mean it will go away. The ramifications of senseless legislation will be felt long after we are all gone.

Define real rain.......and how much did we get down that way over the last couple of days?
