looks like all of the lakes on the coosa or tallapoosa went up at sometime in the last three days. EXCEPT LAKE MARTIIN

Rumor has it that APCO is ticked off because of RL changing sides on the big boat controversy. RL has been working behind the scenes to have the ban overturned.

Seems that people who buy 5million dollar houses want big fast boats. surprise surprise surprise.

Is the drought just a good excuse for APCO to retaliate?

I am sure someone who has a cousin named Bubba that works for APCO will be offended, but it is impossible that they are only releasing the minimums yet the lake has dropped another 1/2 ft + over the last week with all the rain that has come. Making up for the YTD differential has nothing to do with where the lake goes from its present course. The ridiculous posts of people saying it would take hurricane rains to raise the level at all, are simply misinformed. There is no current effort to maintain any level going on right now.

If we had another Opal or Katrina APCo. would not be able to hold back a level rise. I agree that APCo. has an agenda and regardless of what happens, they will try to continue to drop the water level.

RL = RUSSELL LANDS

...wouldn't help much.

Both were fast moving storms that had more wind damage than flooding.

A tropical storm sitting and spinning (a la Summer of '94) would dump enough rain to bring it back up.

AS A LAY LAKER, I HAVE TO SAY THAT FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR WE'LL BE PLAYING MUSICAL WATER, FLUCTUATING US BY 3 FEET EVERY OTHER WEEK OR SO...ON OUR LAKE, THREE FEET IS LIKE 12 FEET TO YOU..IN FACT, I'VE BEEN COMING TO MARTIN ALL SUMMER BECAUSE I COULDN'T USE MY BOAT RAMP AND IT WAS JUST UNSAFE TO NAVIGATE LAY WITH IT THAT LOW...KIZMA, YOU SOUND JUST A LITTLE PARANOID....

the lake was down 4.5 feet the day opal hit and the next morning it was full....I had wind damage but also had boat damage because it did come up 4.5 feet overnight. Made some money off insurance and all was good so bring on another opal! I also ran all over the lake today(just got back in an hour ago) and enjoyed it like I used to 18 years ago..lake to myself!

These rains that we have been getting are so isolated and localized that it means nothing. Last week a friend that lives less than a mile away, as the crow flies, got flooded for over 1/2 hour and not a drop fell at my house. In order to make ANY SIGNIFACANT difference we must have a rain that covers the entire watershed, not a few slouhgs in a couple of creeks. I am sure that the CORPS and FERC are really allowing APCO to drain the lake just to tick off RL. <sarcasm off>

Why are some of you so bitter and angry? Is this the only summer you will ever get to spend on the lake?
