Hope you were using monofilament line instead of cord. Water is very clear in Lake Martin. Cut bait (sunfish) is good bait and should at least catch a few tutles (LOL). You might want to buy a couple of minnow traps from Wal-Mart and place along your seawall for catching spot tail minnows. They make good bait.

Few years back, I made up a bunch of jugs using pvc piping. Makes it real easy to store and carry around in your boat. I actually use a couple of plastic baskets with lids to store and tote. I spray painted half with orange florescent paint and half with yellow. This way you can bait one color with one bait and the other color with a different bait. Sort of helps you figure out which bait is working. Night time is your best fishing.

Bleach jugs and other large bottles are just too bulky.

I actually used some noodles i had and cut them up..lakeman gave me that idea...works real well to. and yes i used mono instead of cord. the deeper lines i used 12lb test and the short ones i used 4lb test..had pretty good luck for the couple of hours i was out..just disapointed in not seeing any jugs..LOL

All the jugs were caught already and used for boat bumpers. Jugs have to be caught when the moon is right and usually only bite for one night. Film at eleven.

I guess the jugs and noodles were just not on my agenda. I am still trying to figure out the ho's hanger deal.

There is a rare bread of jugs in our lake and they are schooling jugs. I saw them last week for the first time. There was a school of 6 of them next door to my place, you have to be very sneaky about it if you want them to show up in the daylight. If you are quite enough and they think there is no one in sight they will even jump around on top of the dock and make squeeling noises. Well then some folks started making a lot of noise when they arrived at the lake for the weekend and in a flash they were gone. I'm going back this Friday in hopes of seeing them again.

Nice job DJ. A very rare sighting indeed. It's not a sight many will see. Maybe when Feb gets down here for good we can introduce him to the real art of " jug fishing " and to snipe hunting " southern style ".

That would help, try using silver bullets for bait, seams I say a few of those laying around the dock, other brands will word I guess. I am not sure where to pour the bait for best results but I will pay very close attention next time I am there and there are jugs in the area.

Yes you will, and a faster one as well, I've seen plenty of the big jugs on the "BIGGER FASTER BOATS". I've tried to stop them and ask what they use for bait but my little bass boat just will not keep up.

you need to leave all of those ho's at home to catch those jugs! (and a bass boat with a 502 mag in it wouldnt hurt either) ;)

I think it's a good idea to number them. We have 5 or 6 that we put out sometimes and the next morning we always have our doubts as to whether we picked all of them up.

yes i numbered them and marked on them how long the line is so i can set them out at the correct depth
