I am wondering if this forum is a place for those who love and enjoy lake martin to share pertinent information, resources, and ideas or is it a personal battleground?

Certainly I or anyone can chose to read or not to read a thread, however, I would like to see posts that might be or can be construed as personal attacks removed. Threats and personal affronts are not interesting to me.

If anyone out there shares my thoughts, perhaps we can shame those who move on a lower level to change their ways.

Best Regards to those who appreciate respect and dignity as a way of life.

I agree! West Point Lake has an unused forum. I invite those who wish to engage in personal attacks to go there. www.westpointlake.info

Or at the very least, you folks take it over to the scuba diving forum. It sounds like some of you enjoy holding your breath when you read and your noses when you write. Perhaps some fresh tanks will do ya'll some good. I know your masks are fogging up. Hope everyone has a delightful Labor Day weekend and that I find enough water at the end of my dock this afternoon.

Since I seem to be the only Gentleman in the foray, I wll respond. You see a couple of us 'oldtimers' to the fourm have been getting the best of lakeman for about 6-7 years now. Every so often he manages to work some simple minded idiots to join him in his charge against ME, because I am the only one still around. It hasn't worked yet and never will. He shows his character, or lack thereof, over and over again. He always looses, makes veiled threats, dissapears for a while, rallies a couple of allies and attacks again. I have recieved apologies from a couple of his past 'allies' when over time the real culprit comes thru.

Isn't there another Lake Martin message board somewhere out there? Maybe we could ship the troublemakers off to there?

Did you ever find any other pictures (sinse you like to google so much) of Lake Martin in 1942? I still have only been able to find those same two. I also am thinking the lake is gonna go way, way down this winter. And, now I wonder about next year as well. And, as far as the forum goes.... Yall have to get used to the puddin' gettin' stired up every now and then.

Thats what I was looking for when I found FFF (FelineFreindFinder.com). It upset me so that I have Googled since. Poor DeeDee. But don't worry, she is as nice as she is good looking, and with that nice Performance Marine Shop she will own, I am sure she will find another man soon and the alimony payments will stop.

But seriuosly, no I haven't but I will try again. It seems there a LOTS p\of pics of the constrution era, and then not so many. But I think that pic was normal draw down for the time ( 30 feet ).

This is what's troubles me, more than the fact that I've begun to check this site more than I should, is the importance placed on and credibility given to foolishness. What trouble do the "trouble makers" cause? What harm do the "pranksters" do? Do the "stupid" that post spread a "stupid" virus? These are only words and in the war of words, only the good die young. I believe it was Ghandi who said; "war, huh, great God ya'll, what is it good for....absolutely nothin' ".

Maybe it's because paradise has been paved over for the season...and there is some anxiety about next season, but the tenor of a forum in which most of the participants live or weekend on this fantastic gift from God (apco not withstanding) should be one of relaxed discourse. There should be witty banter and frivolity along with the occasional useful information given which affects the Body Martin. Image all the posters living life as one's!

A little pudding stirring now and then is one thing, however, it seems this is the majority of the content lately and I agree enough is enough.

The problem is that there are a few posters who are far from gentlemen. Their goal in life is to come here and attack me, while trying to blame it on me. One of these posters showed the world what kind of 'man' he is last night by refusing to apologize to Maverick for dragging him into the muck. I did the same thing, and as SOON as it was pointed out, made my apologies. Of course Lakeman used that as excuse to just call me 'pathetic', then publicly refused to apologize for the same offense mere minutes later. One oddity however, is that I have yet to see him be 'called out' for it. Once again I did not start the 'war of words', I just win it.

I will not sit back and see the mayor denigrated and slandered on this or any other forum. I will point out inaccuracies EVERY time they are posted. I will also not let someone 'claim' this forum as means to communicate with any group exclusively. Until Bruce declares it otherwise, it is a PUBLIC forum

It'll go away soon enough. Yall should have seen the mess with the "Boat Ban" a year and a half ago. It was worse than you can imagine. Sererated several of us for quite sometime. Kinda devided us into two groups for a while. We all have an interest in the lake, but enjoy it differently. That we all have to realize. Out of respect (I think) it is not mentioned very much anymore.

This is just what I'm talking about. Now I'm not on the Dadeville side of the lake and I'm sure the issue you all are deal with is contentious, but here's the thing; No one but you and the few others that were in your long late night name calling care.

All of this "I know who you are", "you don't know who my mother-in-laws milk man is" "come on over and mow my lawn" "I'll show you who wrote the magna carta" stuff is only important to 3 or 4 of you and after 9 pages of post, it will be gone forever. All that will be left is that place in your soul that you've let all this eat away.

As the official 50,000th poster, I am apologizing to Mav for LM and to Osms for LTL.

Now that that is settled, I'm going to google a satellite map of flathead's house....have a good weekend ya'll.

You have a strong tendency to over react and it does not suit your intelligent side.

visiting this site. I'm tired of seeing all the fussing and name calling. This used to be a fun place and I enjoyed coming here and finding out info on the lake that I didn't know. Now, I probably come once every couple weeks instead of every day. Everyone here is an adult, so act like one and not like a child. I believe my 3 year old is better behaved than some here.

Just my $0.02. Now for the flame suit to be put on and flame away if you like.

Bingo.
I certainly don't think this forum is being used in the way that it was intended to be used when it was created. I don't think I know any of these people but I assume most of them are adults and it sounds like some are even retired adults. You would never know it by the way they act. They sound like a bunch of kids that don't know how to act or communicate responsibly. I will admit it does make for some good entertainment at times but it just goes on and on and on. If you are not in this little group that battles back and forth continuously it is almost a waste of time to even log on to see if there is anything worth reading.

Maybe over reacting is a character defect, but at least I have some character. But if anyone chooses to read back thru the weeks, years you will find ONE poster at the center of the firestorm. It is beginning to feel like cyber stalking!!

I have an opinion on the WWTP, and am not shy about stating it. I personally feel that the local politicians do a good job for the most part. I have been hearing about these 29 violations over the past ten years till I am sick of it. I am no math wizard, but taken at face value that is 2.9 overflows, of HIGHLY diluted waste water, per year. Where were these folks when Russell built a marina about 100 feet from the AC water INTAKE. That is water that is going into homes for potable purposes. There was a little bit of a dust up, but nothing like this has been. There were NO demands for public hearings, etc etc. I guess it is a lot easier to pick a fight with the mayor of Dadeville than it is the deep pockets of Russell.

WAY TO GO WATERDOG!!!
WE USED TO LIVE IN ALABAMA YEARS AGO, NOW WE ARE JUST "PART TIME" LAKE MARTIN LOVERS. WE WERE ALL EXCITED WHEN WE BOUGHT OUR HOUSE ON BEAUTIFUL LAKE MARTIN 5 YEARS AGO, AND FOUND THIS SITE TO COMMUNICATE AND FIND OUT INFORMATION ABOUT LAKE ACTIVITIES, BUT THIS FORUM IS GETTING OUT OF CONTROL WITH RUDE PEOPLE!!
I USE TO THINK THE OVERALL POPULATION OF THE SOUTH WAS MADE UP OF BEAUTIFUL WOMEN AND SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN?
* CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG!!

That's part of the problem. Posts disappear after nine pages, but not just the stupid posts; the good and/or funny and/or helpful posts are gone, too. And when there are pages and pages of stupid posts, the good posts are gone that much faster.

LTL, please just ignore the posters who you get into debates with. Quit trying to defend yourself as getting you riled up is all they want from you. It just wears thin on the rest of us. I guarantee that if you stop responding to them they will eventually give up. It simply does no good to get the better of others in a forum debate because no one else places that much value on it.
